Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Zoe7 ..... I think you need to voice your concerns about hospital very firmly with your go and psych, which is hard when you don't even want to go there in your mind ... but Skyping with a psychiatrist instead of going to hospital might be an option for you. While it is seen as the second-best scenario at the moment, if you can explain very clearly that the thought of hospital is amping you up and pushing you towards the edge, it might get shifted to "best option" status to work through Skype.

Can you write a few key words down - just before you head out the door so you're not stressing in the lead-up - and hand them to your gp to start the conversation ? I say this because the words might escape you in the anxiety of the moment, and sometimes just having that little piece of paper in your hand can provide moral support .....

Re: Am Not Coping

Oh I am sorry @Zoe7 - I spent so much of the day fiddling around trying to reset things on my computer I missed that you are battling

I understand that you are afraid of going to hospital to a huge degree - I am sure my reasons of hating hospitals are quite different but there has to be a point where we need to go - but yes - talk about this with your psychistrist - I think someone else has suggested this - and it's a good idea

Sleep deprivation has all sorts of complications - and making the situation worse is one of them

I am sure you will make the right decision in the long run - it seems to have been a tough time for you and getting more so

All the best

Re: Am Not Coping

@Zoe7. Got sent home early today. Ran out of work. Which is stupid when you think they have just extended this assignment another 3 weeks. But we can't do the work - if they don't give us the paperwork.
Just picked my boy up from band. He's in the shop picking up fish and chips for dinner. I'm too tired to cook.
Boiling hot day in country Victoria today. But now porit with rain. At least I won't have to water the garden when I get home. But I will have 3 wet and muddy dogs again. Aaarrrggghhh!!!
Hope your gp appointment went better than you thought. My psych from the hospital skyped sessions with me - when I went home. So there are some iut there who will do this.
How's Toby's foot going tonight? Is he still limping a little?

As you all know I was really worried about what would happen at my appointment today! It was somuch better than yesterday. My GP recognised how distressing yesterday was and is doing everything possible to avoid going down that route. I told her I didn't think she fully understood how terrifying it was for me to think about and what she said and her reaction indicated that she really is getting the idea. She has talked to my psychologist and I think this also gave her a little more insight into how difficult it has been thinking about this.

The psychiatrist she has been trying to get hold of the last two days rang her while I was there. She talked to her and gave her a bit more context than was in the initial referral. She also relayed my fears about hospital and told her she was trying to avoid this by seeing me everyday, checking in with me on her days off and dispensing medication to me when she sees me each day. She is now going to arrange with the chemist for me to pick it up each day so I am covered on weekends and on her days off and so there is no possibility of that temption around me at the moment.

There is no movement forward yet in the appointment date to see the psychiatrist but at least now they have connected and are going to keep monitoring me as best they can between themselves until I can see the psychiatrist. She has put me on the cancellation list as a priority so that is sounding more promising.

My GP also helped me to list some of the warning signs (that she can see) when I am starting to deteriorate and become more at risk. I think you guys can probably see some of these also - it's a bit harder for me when I'm struggling.

They have changed my medication so the next week or so is probably going to be quite difficult. It is not something I have had previously so we have no idea yet how I am going to respond or if there will be any side effects. The last change we made had several side effects that lasted over a week before they started to abate.

The main concern from everyone is my lack of sleep. I can go back to the psychologist in just under two weeks and hopefully this will help with managing my fear of sleep, flashbacks and nightmares. It seems a really long time away but I need to wait until then to be able to see her through medicare.

Wow - that is a lot! Think that just about gets you all up to date though.

Thanks for supporting me here - you all really have made a difference - and kept me going over the last few days - which have been extremely tough

Re: Am Not Coping

Hi @NikNik I'm doing ok just at the moment. The nights are really hard and that is when I start to struggle. Everyone here in this wonderful community has been so supportive and really helped to keep me going and stay safe when I just want to give up. Yes @Former-Member has been helping me out and I will work on my plan with her tomorrow sometime.

Thanks for your response. Hope you are going ok!

Re: Am Not Coping

@Zoe7. I'm so relieved your gp appointment went so well. Better than I expected. You must be rapt.
How amazing the psychiatrist called when you were there. That's fantastic. I guess she really is booked up. The good ones always are. But I'm assuming she helped work out the new meds you are going on.
So will you still have an AD? What about anxiety meds? Do any of the side effects for the new meds - include sleepiness? Because you're on a roll now & I'm hoping this may be of benefit as well.
And your gp will now have support from this psychiatrist - which must help her too.
Great idea to get your meds dispensed from the chemist.
Wow. So much positive changes today. And no hospital! Yay!
I liked @Faith-and-Hope suggestion of sleeping during the day and being up at night. At least for the short term - til you see your psychologist. Do you think this may help and be something you could try?
You must be so relieved. I'm really happy for you.♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Lots of love and hugs.
