Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Lists can definitely have a down side @Sam3, especially if they become overwhelming or something that puts pressure on you. I find they help me feel more organised as my brain runs a million speed sometimes and can become a bit all over the place 😏 There's a daily goals and motivation thread here you might like to check out. There are so many encouraging and supportive people around the forum and this can be a great place to cheer each other on to complete little and big tasks!

How many kids do you have (if you feel like sharing)? Parenting can be very hard when you don't have drive and are feeling overwhelmed.

I imagine you'd be a little limited in the range of places you could go to find things like art supplies @Zoe7? Maybe compared to bigger cities at least. That does sound like a pretty fun trip to the city though!

Re: Am Not Coping

We now have just one art shop in the whole of the Hobart and surrounding suburbs @CheerBear It is very frustrating. A lot of things I need to buy online which takes time to get here. The cheaper shops (like the $2 dollar shops you guys have) have oil paints - they aren't great quality but they do the same job. I brought a whole bag of oil paints back from Sydney when I went last year. Cost me a couple of hundred dollars but was well worth it. Officeworks has Reeves paints but they are no better than the cheaper shop ones. The ones I bought in Sydney are quite big and last a lot longer than the smaller ones from Officeworks or the cheaper shop.

Yes I think Big has learnt from me @Zoe7 😆 This is my little magnet collection, which I am loving not having any writing under this week and have intentionally stayed clear of the whiteboard to give myself a little break 😊 I find it so helpful usually though.

I'm wondering whether Big might just have a pretty magnet addiction like their mum though 😉

Great idea with learning the whiteboard against the desk. I'll use that as a compromise if I need to.

That's a pain with the shops Zoe. Hearing some of your experiences makes me realise even more how much living in a big city has it's advantages, and how living in a smaller one has it's disadvantages and limitations (also some lovely bonuses too though!).

I'm being asked (nagged) to go shopping now. I understand as they're super excited! Might catch you later if you're around. Maybe some NY party planning if you're up for it some time.

❤ to all 👋

Re: Am Not Coping

Love your whiteboard @CheerBear and your little labels - even better that there is nothing under them this week. I am having a week off from the diary card in DBT but need to start it again next week. We have a few weeks off so not back until the 9th - which is actually an extra week but I will go because I have a pdoc appointment on the same day and if I don't go to DBT I will have to pay for the appointment.

Enjoy your shopping with Big - and yes some NYE planning later would be great 😍🎉🎈

Re: Am Not Coping

Thanks for your encouragement Cheerbear. I hope you’re having a good day. I have four kids who are thankfully pretty straightforward - the youngest is the only one still in primary school. For them in particular, I really need to get less depressed & much more functional - any ideas how?! I have a few close friends & a supportive doctor with whom I’m in regular contact. I’m doing a bad job of bringing up the younger two in terms of guiding activities & screen time etc as I cannot organise myself nor carry out interests/alternative activities myself. The house is always disorganised, cluttered & messy. I’m feeling more & more separate from friends as they & their kids lead normal, productive lives. I’m scared for my kids in terms of the impact of my illness on their lifestyle/habits/health. It is extremely fortunate that my husband is a loving, involved father. I’m extremely disappointed in myself especially when I have so much compared to most of the global population. Despite genuine appreciation for having so much, doing productive things seems too hard or pointless.... nonetheless will keep on putting mountains of washing away....

Ha ha re early morning walks. @TAB The sights one is rewarded with!

I walked outside round midnight with King Cat in my long nighty.

@Zoe7

The air seems better up there!

Hello @Sam3

Welcome to the forum. I sometimes put the bleach in the shower recess to remind me that it needs doing and get around to it when I do.. a few days later ..lol. Really breaking those tasks down lol ... Being a teacher could mean you have high expectations. You are in the middle of the heavy washing years. No wonder it gets to you. It takes gumption to keep going.

I learned to become very forgiving about my lists and rolled over things whenever needed.

Re: Am Not Coping

The poor elephant is just about beyond repair @Appleblossom I need so badly to get the garage roof done so I can do the walls, put up the shelves and make room for the elephant. Then I can decide whether to discard it or re-do it - leaning towards discarding but I do love it - too hard a decision!

Still doing the washing here - has been taking all day - doing the bedding as well as all Toby's beds (left one in the bedroom for him for tonight). Hopefully we don't get rain tonight and it will all dry overnight.

Re: Am Not Coping

Yep still on the washing job here too, @Zoe7 but have stopped now so I can take kids outside. My head feels like it could explode with how never-ending it all feels when really I should be damn grateful to have so many material things.

Re: Am Not Coping

There are days when it seems never ending @Sam3 - I think that is a natural response when other things are getting to you too - makes the normally mundane seem insummountable. Go easy on yourself - it doesn't matter how much of those material things we have - what matters is how we think about ourselves and if you are struggling in that area then it is more than okay to say so ...you will certainly be listended to here. One thing we all learn by being amongst others here is that there is no right or wrong, have or have nots, well or not well - there simply just is us and all that we bring with us. Everyone is equal and everyone deserves the same level of attention and support. ...and you are now part of the forum family so you will get both
