Starting anew

Starting anew

I am starting a new online course and looking forward to moving away from a traumatising hospital experience three years ago. I have been stable and steady within my life and hope to improve even further while I study and plan for my future.

Re: Starting anew

Hi @JaneDoe. Congratulations and very best wishes for your new beginning. Try to put your bad experience behind you, not easy but taking 'emotional baggage' with you will slow you down. Perhaps occasionally remind yourself to keep clear of situations similar to your previous trauma as this could set you back in your attempts to re-start.

Re: Starting anew

@JaneDoe1. Welcome to the forums and well done on claiming your life back.
Study can really help improve your confidence and sense of self achievement - so often needed after a traumatic experience.
It sounds like you are on the right path.

Re: Starting anew

Hello @JaneDoe1, Congratulations on taking up this course. I finished this exact certificate in September last year. If you need any help, just call out.

Good to hear you are making a new start for yourself and taking care of you:)

Re: Starting anew

Hi Heart. Congratulations on completing your course. Did you do the course through OTEN? Any advise on how to approach the course?
Great to know of someone who has done the course.

Re: Starting anew

Hi @JaneDoe1, I did mine through IPS People. Mine was Business Administration Medical but the basis of the course in the same.

Google will become your best friend. Take as much of your answers from the information that they give you. This is what the assessors will be looking for. Work Place Health and Safety will appear in most of the subjects.(don't panic, WPHS is mostly common sense.) Do not be afraid to call upon your assessor if you need help as that is what they are there for. Mine drove 2hrs to see me as I was stuck on Excel.

Take your time doing it and make sure you take plenty of breaks. Enjoy what you are learning.

Do you have a place of work to be able to put into practice what you are learning or is this course to get you employment?

Hope this helps.

Don't be afraid to ask me if you get stuck and I will try to help.

Take care.

Re: Starting anew

@JaneDoe1. I've been following your thread here. Your course sounds great.
20 odd years ago - I did a cert 3 in office admin with an extra course - medical secretary - medical terminology / privacy issurs etc.
It's been great.
Admin Assistants / officers and business managers / assistants are always in demand. And I got great satisfaction out of my previous jobs. I hope you will too.
I was an OH& S Rep. Although it can be dreary to sit through - there are a few interesting bits you can pick up and make your passion in the workplace - such as inclusivity - anti bullying etc.
As @Heart said - most of it is common sense.
I wish you lots of luck with this course. I'm sure you will love it.

Re: Starting anew

@JaneDoe1, Sorry forgot to ask you when do you start or is the paper work still being finalised?

Re: Starting anew

Paperwork has been finalised. I am officially studying. I got online and instantly panicked a little. Realised I only need to get through one assignment at a time. How long do you spend on each assessment? 400 hours is the allocated time for the course. How do I break it up?
