Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx I wish there was some matching system. Finding the right therapist is hard.

I use a light weight body lotion. It’s frustrating when you can’t find skincare that worked in the past, I’ve had that happen to me

@creative_writer like a Tinder for psychs lol

You tried the APS find a psychologist or the psychology today find a counsellor thingamos??

Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx a Tinder for psychs will be useful. I’ve tried looking on psychology today, haven’t had much luck so far. Maybe eventually. Maybe I have lots of too many commodities that makes navigating the system complicated. Having multiple therapists will be expensive and confusing. I’ve literally also given up talking repeatedly about trauma details. I want less talk stuff, somatic based therapy is very limited. I’m also not in a very convenient location, I have to do Telehealth appointments with my pdoc because I couldn’t find anyone else suitable closer by

Re: Listening to triggering music

@creative_writer dunno if it helps but this is the other database I mentioned. Yeah it's hard ay, I mean even just finding someone who understands neurodiversity enough that we don't have to feel like half the session is spent explaining ourselves.... let alone someone who can also work with complex trauma.

Ach, that sucks too, like no shade on telehealth it is sooooo helpful and vitally important, but it sounds like you are wanting that face to face connection, esp for such intense emotional work.

Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx it would be helpful if a therapist had thorough insight on ND because explaining it is a lot of work. I would even be open to working with a ND therapist. It is not enough to have theoretical knowledge of ND, having an understanding is also important.

Complex trauma is complex, I think one of the reasons why it worked out with the SANE guided service is because SANE is catered towards complex mental health issues. It’s one thing to have an acute mental health episode and another to struggle with it on an ongoing basis.

It would be good if the face to face option was available too, but the thing is I live far away from everything

Re: Listening to triggering music

@creative_writer Yeah I think cos sometimes it can almost be like we're speaking a different language because our communication styles can be soooo different to NTs, so having another ND will mean you don't have to navigate that extra potential barrier. Not saying an NT therapist wouldn't be a good fit if the vibe is right!

Yeah that's it hey, I wish SANE would get more funding, it's clear that we fill a niche that is very highly needed. I reckon there's probably WAY MORE people with complex mental health than the statistics show, because there's still so much stigma that moost people who have it probably don't even realise.

Have you ever wanted to move into a city?

Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx I think language differences did play a role in the breakdown of my therapeutic relationship with my psych, along with probably different internal belief systems. I never really spoke about being Ace with her. I mean I know technically there is nothing wrong with being Ace, but society pushes young people into marriage. Like I get it’s recommended, but you can’t force someone into it. Some people never get married and that’s okay. Some people have low sexual desires and get married to people with less desires and that’s okay too. Each to their own.

I don’t think all people who get trauma informed training get much on complex trauma. Complex trauma is another monster in itself. Complex mental health is also a niche that requires more work.

I live in Melbourne, just in a suburb that is on the outskirts of Melbourne. The air is clean, but damn it is far from everything

Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx will speak to you soon. I hope you have a restful weekend 💖.

I can’t help but feel loneliness is in my fate. How do I get rid of needing people and just get my needs met through spirituality?
