Something’s not right

I feel nothing

I feel nothing

I feel nothing. I don’t feel real, I am nothing. Nothing else feels real either

Re: I feel nothing

@rav3n it’s hard to rewire the brain into thinking it’s okay to reach out for support. Shame is certainly rough

@tyme I’m still figuring things out. School life was just ugh I suppose. I struggled to fit in and connect with others and have been bullied throughout those years. Never had a safe place. I don’t really think about the bullying as much, but it probably affects me more than I realise

yep that rewiring can take some time, but it's definitely possible @creative_writer

how do you go about challenging those negative thoughts and showing more self-compassion for yourself?

i also hear you about struggling to fit in - i'm so sorry you had to deal with bullying, some people can be so horrible - nobody deserves that sort of treatment. you mentioned that you 'never had a safe place' - want to brainstorm some new potential safe places?

@rav3n sometimes it’s hard to challenge those thoughts even though I know they are not accurate. Self compassion is also something that has been a working progress, it does not come naturally to me.

I guess my bed is my safe place under the covers. There is something comforting about being under blankets.

It seems a lot of people talk about bullying at school. @creative_writer I'm thinking it's so much more now with social media?

The best things victorians (and probably other states) have done is ban phones in schools.

@tyme I don’t really know if bullying is more common now or whether it’s just more recognised. Cyber bullying is more common than it used to be with rising social media use.

Not being able to form those relationships in formative years would affect you. Loneliness is what I’ve known my entire life. I’ve become so used to suffering alone and in silence, reaching out for support feels rather uncomfortable. I never felt like I belonged anywhere, self-isolation is how I coped. The pain of not belonging while being around people is way worse than being alone. Hence I developed the belief, “better off alone”.

My mind is not in a good place today. SI is there, I’m safe
