Hello,

 

Thank you for joining the "Yarning Space" subforum! It’s deadly to have you involved.

 

I am an Aboriginal man from Yuin Country, employed at SANE as the Social Emotional Wellbeing Manager (SEWB), my role is to embed a Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Framework into SANE’s programs and services which includes the forums, and the new Yarning Space currently being trialed and co-designed.

 

We would like to invite you to a special live event to provide us with some feedback about the yarning space and start the process of co-designing the future look and feel of the space as it's important that we know what’s important to you. The event will be a live online group discussion led by SANE and co-hosted by @ArraDreaming. Participants that join the event and contribute will be compensated for their time.

 

When: Monday 27th May 7:00pm to 8:30pm AEST

 

How to participate? Simply login at 7:00pm and join the live conversation by replying to some questions. Questions will be posted during this time, so you and others can respond and provide feedback. 

 

We would love to get some feedback from you about:

  • How easy it is to sign up
  • How easy it is to find the space after you have signed up
  • How easy is it to post
  • Whether we keep the space invitation only but make it visible on the SANE Forums page.
  • What does SEWB mean to you and how can we make the space culturally safe, responsive to your needs, and unique compared to the other Forums?
  • What content would you like to see
  • What design would you like to see
  • Other suggestions/feedback

What is co-design? “Co-design” refers to a participatory approach to designing solutions, in which community members are treated as equal collaborators in the design process.

I’d like to see some cultural discussions for those of us that don’t have that knowledge. Also to help further other members culture

I would enjoy learning more from our Elders. Maybe you could have group discussions with Elders from different language groups regularly? I was mentored by a couple of Elders once and it was very enriching. I was learning culture and language from them but I have lost contact. It would be amazing to feel connected that way again

I wonder if this is a place where you can learn culture?

 

At this point, even if you don't understand culture, it is within you. Maybe it's about what your next steps are to connecting.

 

Perhaps this space can be an enabler for you to connect to country and culture?

 

You've definitely made a step in the right direction.

I would like this space to also be somewhere people can find out more about culture. For me, I am missing half of my identity being my mums side and I hope one day through learning and sharing I can find out more

@Oaktree , this is great feedback. We would want to develop content, and connect with Elders so members can learn about Culture.

 

Maybe this space can be for people to ask cultural questions e.g. How did law work in the past? How did our kinship structure work?

I live in my mobs country. @SouthsNo1. I do feel it in me at times just haven’t really acknowledged it. I do need to dig deeper into it.
