You're Invited - Live Online Event in the Yarning Space, 27th May (Have your say!)

Hello,

Thank you for joining the "Yarning Space" subforum! It’s deadly to have you involved.

I am an Aboriginal man from Yuin Country, employed at SANE as the Social Emotional Wellbeing Manager (SEWB), my role is to embed a Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Framework into SANE’s programs and services which includes the forums, and the new Yarning Space currently being trialed and co-designed.

We would like to invite you to a special live event to provide us with some feedback about the yarning space and start the process of co-designing the future look and feel of the space as it's important that we know what’s important to you. The event will be a live online group discussion led by SANE and co-hosted by @ArraDreaming. Participants that join the event and contribute will be compensated for their time.

When: Monday 27th May 7:00pm to 8:30pm AEST

How to participate? Simply login at 7:00pm and join the live conversation by replying to some questions. Questions will be posted during this time, so you and others can respond and provide feedback.

We would love to get some feedback from you about:

  • How easy it is to sign up
  • How easy it is to find the space after you have signed up
  • How easy is it to post
  • Whether we keep the space invitation only but make it visible on the SANE Forums page.
  • What does SEWB mean to you and how can we make the space culturally safe, responsive to your needs, and unique compared to the other Forums?
  • What content would you like to see
  • What design would you like to see
  • Other suggestions/feedback

What is co-design? “Co-design” refers to a participatory approach to designing solutions, in which community members are treated as equal collaborators in the design process.

 Hope you all can make it!

I am in the same boat as @Captain24 again...

I was not raised in culture so I am maybe not as culturally aware as others. It would be good to be able to ask more questions to understand some things, although I would worry about feeling like I wasn't good enough. I guess this feeling comes from my childhood and the way I was raised. I would like the input of some elders.

Same @Oaktree. This is the reason that I have trouble with believing I should be in this chat or in the group hub. I know that I have been welcomed. I just feel like I let the team down because I don’t understand the culture.

I guess culture can have a different meaning for all of us, depending on our experiences and where we come from right? but the important thing is that we can learn and share because and heal through these stories and support each other.

@SouthsNo1

I wonder if you could do some marketing with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups.

Also once in the space, it would make a difference if there was a little more diversity.

Our Next Question:

What types of discussions would you like to see on this Yarning Space/forum?

@SouthsNo1 asked:

Structured chats would be good, a topic of the week or live chat, maybe even some guests
