Education and Mental Health

Good Morning Everyone @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @Former-Member @Snowie @mr-robot-75 ,

I've come here for a MH break. I've only had one session so far today - maths. It was pretty good, but I'm glad I can have a break here.

I've got another 2 hours of the same class from 11:30am-1:30am.

I shouldn't complain because the kids have been really good.

Today, a colleague brought me a bag of kit kat and summer rolls. How sweet of them! That'll get me through the next week or so at least.

I've got a PL to run tomorrow. It's for secondary teachers on writing IEPs and aligning them with the IEP rubric.

What's everyone's day like today?

Thank you @Zoe7 . It really helps. I’m generally pretty tough but being ganged up on is not nice.

Anyway, I’m happy to turn the page and move on.

@Zoe7 @Shaz51 @tyme @hugs…

cheers @mr-robot-75 what kind of courses?

@BPDSurvivor good on you for being robust and resilient. Teaching is hard yakka… different styles and personalities and practices.

I laughed when everyone was saying school holidays were good… Shazzie worked the most then. I often work harder at night and on weekends…. No one size fits all

Nice to see you here @Appleblossom .

I wonder if for teachers, if they don't take holidays, then they completely burn out?

Re: Education and Mental Health

Hi everyone. Been a while since I've been on here lol.

Umm @Appleblossom I teach networking and cyber security. I notice someone else asking about salaries. I'm not sure about the rest of the country but they've just had to boost our pay up about 4% just to keep people from leaving and going back into industry.

Long stories going on for me but it's a bit late for me to go into it now. I'll do a bit more tomorrow night though.

Suffice it to say I feel very unsupported right now by my boss and by the team in general. I have no idea how this ends but I'm a bit up and down at the moment.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend

@mr-robot-75 , poor you. It sounds so hard in that your boss is not supportive. That's the worst because it feels like there's no trust.

Cyber security sounds really interesting! I always wanted to learn more about it, but my brain doesn't seem that way inclined. What do you teach with cyber security? Is it like how to prevent hackers etc? I guess the cyber security measures are getting more complicated every day and more and more people break through - right?

Please take care @mr-robot-75 . It sounds like things are pretty tough. Do you have family or someone to chat to? It might make it more bearable.
