@Former-Member

It was good to hear from you.

I have had quite a number of experiences like that. In seeing someone who looked a bit like my sister, and hoping desperreately it was her coming to see me. Then again yesterday in the city thinking I saw my daughter ...

I am needing to restrict myself on here too ... and focus on NON MH things.

It's so nice hearing from you @Former-Member

Great to hear you are doing what you need to do to take care of #1.... that's right thar's you 🙂

Self compassion is an important part of self care, I wonder if you would like to join me in self compassion activities that we can implement over the next few days? I'm going to take a relaxing bath, enjoy time with a friend and spend time being in nature 🙂

Take Care

Dearest @Former-Member

Deep is good, it's the best for me because it's honest.

My youngest son is on medication but not my oldest son who struggles with hearing voices in his head. This is his delusion. This is what he struggles with. It is very very difficult for me to hold him in my thoughts and be patient. You know, I've really wanted to say this to you but a book that helped me get through is " The Accidental Tourist, " by, Anne Tyler and "Morgan,' by Anne Tyler.

Thankyou for telling to be harsh on me. I really want to do another piece of artwork and Ill post it when Im doing it .....

I do believe that you saw your son but honey....please be patient. He will come to you. He does not feel in fear inside his head. He just wants to be with you but you MUST takec are of you. It's really difficult. Golly, When my husband and I had to call the Psych team on my youngest son on Christmas Eve...............

Then my husband had a meltdown last night...........

I dont know where you live.....when my oldest son had his first psychosis, an old friend, I hadnt seen her for years just popped $1000 in my bank account and told me to get on the next plane. I was there for a week, over East. I live in Western Australia.

I have missed you and am so happy that you wrote @Former-Member

We are friends. What you said about my artwork is .....unbelieveable. I never ever thought of it by that.

It's awesome to hear from you

Thank you

@Former-Member if you were here, I'de get that bone out, give it to my dog Arlo and play paper games with you. You know...origami and paper squares......

@Former-Member I think everyone here we are all taking you out for a giggly coffee. HAve you friends that y ou can connect with? I actually don't have that. It's because my husband is always sticky taped to me......I can't do anything without him. Not many people understand that. Then there's Arlo, my dog.

Would you grab some scrap books and magazines and do scrapbooking for yourself @Former-Member ?? A lady I know is going through hard times and we are doing scrapbookig together.....shhould be this weekend.

My husband's nurse rang him today and told him to tell me that Arlo the name is in the top 10 new boys names. PLEASE. How many were named after Arlo Gutherie ?

YOu could also do a scrapbook of ridiculous facts or .....anything.....How about Australian Birds?

hello @PeppiPatty @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Appleblossom @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

thank you so much for such lovely, warm responses.

yes pebbles i will try to do something. i have agreed to help behind the bar at local sports club that my husband plays for. I did this years ago and started last week for first time. Incredible as I had isolated myself so long. Placing focus on such little things taken for granted.

Eventually after seeming ages, only a matter of minutes I grounded myself. I slotted straight back in to role, floating, smiling, so many people so happy to see me, laughing, worked for 4 hours straight, very busy and was so proud of how I handled it. We also went back to other person's place for pizza with group of people. Only one person in the whole small town where I live knows of my previous condition. Even she does not know about son situation now. So no I cant let friends see me like this. I rely totally on psychotherapist and disability outreach link for carers.

Scrapbooking I tried once in hospital, not really my thing, but I do want to get back in to attempting to sketch. Eventually I would like to use charcoal.

when i am feeling better than i am at moment i have a long time friend from when i lived in the city with whom i will catch up with.

stay safe my lovely friends xxxxxxx ggh (great group hug)

Dear @Former-Member

Great about the bar work. When you have the space and energy for it .. it can be a great relief & distraction . and will help husband feel supported.

I still think about your son and you .. but like you I have to be careful about taking on too much pain ... and am learning to set limits on it.

For some reason your story really helped me ... heal some historical experiences with my brother & sister (20-30). I had been so alone managing their distress .. with little yard stick for comparison about what was normal adolescent issues and due to blossoming sexuality and ... .. Your voice in the present reminded me so much about my time back then .. but in a good way ... I could respect my concerns and actions and reactions... and I could let go of some of my anger about not having their needs met .. or my needs met.

Hanging on to that anger .. is never healthy .. but it seemed that it helped me release it ... maybe it was just my time to do it .. and let go of some less than helpful overvalued ideas ... that may be blocking me in my present.

I responded to the therapist in you and the family member.

Hello @Appleblossom, @PeppiPatty, @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope, @Former-Member, @Decadian

Here is an update xx

I made an appointment with the local Gp , I wanted to see a certain doctor so I had to wait a couple of weeks

I went and saw her, and she said to wait until everything settles down and then we will see if i needed any meds to help me

Re: When a Carer / wife / Husband / Partner is in need of meds herself / himself

dear @Shaz51

That feels right to me........

I'm just reading posts......I've got to spend some time taking care of myself.......

But it feels like your husband is very tired but he knows

you work very hard on relationship

business

children

and he wants to recipricate ( word for return that love ) but he is very tired and this is his way to show you love.

My husbands Father says he loves me and he also feels sorry for me 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. They both say strange things to show that they love me....both my husband and him.
