Re: Anyone feel like chatting? Coffee/Tea ☕💕

yep @Mazarita fascinating Taoist philosophy actualy. To be honest though I find most of the eastern belief systems very enlightening (pun yes, but I really do.) Full of wisdom. It's amazing that western "science" is finally realising just how accurate some of their insights are. Yet they have known for thousands of years.

I love it. But I think before my PTSD I would have just gone.. yeah right whatever pfffffft....

@Spookytookims, interesting that your attitude to spirituality changed with the PTSD. I first came in contact with eastern mysticism in my early twenties and even joined a indian-based sect for a number of months. Meditation has long been part of my life, though I am very 'western' about it (ie. undisciplined, usually do it randomly rather than methodically now). I feel I've learned good things from it all, even if I've had to go my own free spirited way in the end.

@Mazarita yeah I think you just hit the nail on the head re true "Acceptance" when you wrote:

"Making the most of wherever we are in life seems like it could be an integral part of healing."

I don't think it's a passive kind of acceptance, more a deeper understanding kind of acceptance. LIke you just described. Otherwise we just keep living in the past and allowing the bad stuff to dominate our now and our future.

All that is very eastern philosophy. Doaist and Buddhist. "The Way" Amazing how it is all so connected. They don't sayit's easy, quite the opposite. That's why the whole philosophy is basically devoted to it.

@Spookytookims, yes to seeking deep acceptance, that it is a 'way' rather than a destination.

@Mazaritahey I'm similar... I had been in Thai wats. I had talked to monks. At the time their insights and what they imparted to me kind of sat in a filing box in my head. It didn't really resonate with me but it sounded just so "real" I kept it valued in my head.

Then when I realised what the heck was happening to me later in life, I realised now was the time that valuable knowledge had been given to me. So I could draw from it and expand on it in my time of need.

If you said that to me before it all happened I'd have said yeah right ... whaaaatever. But that's the way it happened and I cannot deny my own experience.

Once again... that just underlines what you said about our experiences all intertwining, re your bi-polar giving you things of value.

Really interesting and in a way I think very positive. Like the flower that blooms out of the ashes. The Phoenix rising 😛

@Spookytookims, sounds like a rich blend, cool you have a nifty machine. Companion has a little expresso machine here but I never use it, so lazy. Just heard the first birds. Love being awake at dawn.
