Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Sorry @Former-Member

I know it will happen again , because it always does

I will work out the diary for the week with our jobs with him -- that is ok , than I start organising appointments and other things in between

I don`t know why but it seems like he wants to be in control , and changes his mind , I have shifted jobs around , cancelled appointments all the time

" 1 -- the other day we went to help clean my MIL`s walls and ceilings , and I said -- we will be there for the whole day ok , well after 4 hours of cleaning he packed the ute and said he was going home -- his mum was "what " she could not believe it

NUmber 2 -- was yesterday and we were doing my mum`s gardening , he told us we had been working for 2 and a half hours and he was going home but we were only there for 1 hour and a half

these are 2 explamps but there are many many more -- and when mum rang last night and said -- "does he do that all the time

and I thought how many other people see this as well

sometimes I just feel like i am tagging along -- argggg sometimes I think what about me

I think this is why it is soooo hard for me to do self care -- time for me because it is always changed for me @CherryBomb, @NikNik

sorry for venting , I am not very good putting thouhgts into words

this is why I love coming here , because it is my time for me and to chat to all my wonderful friends

Must be so frustrating for you @Shaz51. They do say that patience is a virtue.

Hey @Determined - you must be virtuous too.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

@Former-Member .... MIL under-eating and smug about how thin she us getting ..... had to drop in and see her today .... she's inviting me out for coffee, but I don't want to look at her ....

Can't pretend this is not happening. Have tried to warn her that her son is not well .... wtf ??!! I know he got disordered eating ideas from her growing up, but she's doing the severe diet thing too now ..... like in support of him .....

S2 back to the dr tomorrow .... wondering if he can see that WH is micro-managing him .... have told the dr that's what's happening from earlier in the year ..... think WH intends to turn up with S2 at the dr apt ....

Argh .... !!!! Feels like it's all gone crazy and it's out of my hands to do anything .... So hard to just sit back and watch all this like some bizarre stage play.

😡

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Okay .... did my ranty-tanty stop the conversation over here ..... ?

I'm sorry .... 😔 ....
Just so frustrated and feeling helpless to protect my son, even tho he is adult now .... it's like he has lost all personal strength and is believing the controling behaviour. is appropriate and necessary one minute, then being passively resistant the next ..... but powerless because he is beholden to us to support his life - roof over his head, food in his mouth - so it feels like biting the hand that feeds him to reject the controlling behaviour designed to "support him" by "shaping him up" .....

If the dr sees this, we can get help for him .... if the dr doesn't see it, our situation remains invisible.

If S2 is sent to a psychologist and the psych sees it, we can receive support, but if he doesn't ..... still invisible ......

If I try to speak up it looks like I'm the interfering, controlling one and WH will play that card like nobody's business ....

Grrrr ..... 😥 .... heartache .....
