Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Don't know if this is the right place but feeling quite upset at the moment and need to vent,

I witnessed a student have a melt down earlier, I could go into a long rave about what I think triggered it but that is probably irrelevant, what has really upset me is how this lady was mocked and everyone was laughing during the meltdown and continued to mock her after she ran out of the room. One of them thought it would be a good idea to follow her into the next room and continue talking at her to the point where she was in complete distress. (I was so concerned I reported it).

What makes this worse and really upsets me is that these are nursing students future (so called) health professionals. When one sees this level of professionalism it is clear to see why the level of service is often sub standard when presenting to emergency department with a mental health crisis (or with so called health professionals generally). All of these students I might add have just completed a unit on mental health that they all seem equally amused by.

Feeling pretty close to a melt down of my own and had to go for a long walk to calm down.

talk away my friend @Determined

that is sad and very uncalled for , It seems to only take one person and others will follow that person , instead of thinking for themselves and "saying that is not nice"but instead they follow

I now regret not saying something before it got to that poimt rather than sitting in uncomfortable silence.

Planning to seek some guidance from management as to when it is ok as a fellow student to say that is out of line to someone. Sometimes I think shaming from another student could possibly carry more weight than a staff member saying something. Not the first time I have had to bite my lip in order not to unload on someone.
