Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Sometimes it is helpful to articulate the things that are underlying our worries and from there we can work out what the questions are.

For example with your mum, if she was to decline in health, what are the things that are really scaring you? If it is practical things like how long can she stay in her own home? You might then ask Carers Aust about home services through HACC or my aged care, they also are aware of respite options. There might be able to advise where you can get practical financial advice too.

If your concerns are more on the medical side there are some tips I can give in relation to communication with doctors.

Hi @Former-Member
Thank you for your response and practical advice. And yes, I do need to write down the fears i have swirling around in my head. I've been so emotional today that I haven't been able to think logically.
When you have a moment I would really appreciate receiving your tips re: communicating with doctors.
How are you? Xxx
