Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

It’s hard dividing yourself up sometimes isn’t it @Shaz51 ?
Try not to feel guilty because I’m sure you have done nothing wrong. You can only be in one place at a time🌿🌸❤️

Hi @Faith-and-Hope *waves

@Shaz51 would you like to tell us more about how you are feeling about mum?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

oh it is not all the time @Former-Member

but my mum is very independent , strong , private person

we do her house, cleaning , gardening , mowing , shopping and making meals for her

and I ring her up a few nights a week as well , maybe it is as she is getting older and starting to feel lonely at times

but she seems to be dropping more hints about me not dropping in for a cuppa and little things she says just makes me feel guilty and then one moment she wants me to become her carer and then changes her mind

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I guess admitting the need for a carer could be seen as a loss of independence for Mum @Shaz51. My mum is really pleased now she has house cleaning being done but by golly it took a lot to convince her to get someone in. Our Mums are similar - they both keep their minds sharp with word games, mine is losing her cooking ability and the aging body is taking its toll.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Yes @Former-Member Our Mums are similar

mine is losing her cooking ability and the aging body is taking its toll. , same here @Former-Member, that`s why I do a few meals for her

the other day she hurt herself in the garden , went to the hospital , got it fixed and blood pressure was high -- she did not tell me until I rang the next day

But I knew because someone from the hospital told me

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

That is exactly the type thing my mum would do @Shaz51.

It is a worry @Shaz51 - has mum got good neighbours?
