Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

There might have been a food allergy going on there. A lot of people are r active to MSG, amd many Asian restaurants use lots of it as a flavour enhancer @Shaz51. Drink lots of water ..... I am sure you do anyway .... but that should help to flush it from your system, if that is what it was.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

@Shaz51 My main feeling is that I hope Mr D finds things beneficial and that this therapist has found a way to connect with him, am hoping they have built up enough rapport for him to be able to trust her with his feelings and that she will provide appropriate counsel in relation to the losses that he feels, he tells me he found it easier to talk to her than the previous therapist. I have felt the strain of being the only person he would talk to about the grief of his diagnosis, his attempt and injuries, feeling quite inadequate, not knowing how to respond. As I mentioned before, I do not ask him about the therapy, I only have what he volunteers as I know there are things that are very painful for him.

@Former-Member Thankfully I have been able to relinquish many tasks that I used to have to do. We have found that the marital relationship advice given by bipolar support groups is working for us - that is that the patient takes responsibility for managing their illness and actively includes their spouse in the treatment plan. There are really only a handful of things that I now do and Mr D assures me that he is happy with how this is going and that I am not overstepping the mark

@Former-Member - you are right - it is very hard letting go - trust is shattered in a crisis.

@Former-Member

I understand though..

I am seeing my twin dealing with mum being in nursing home and no longer totally under her care...

twin struggling more than mum.....mum struggling for different reasons...as in her own independence

you still have mr darcy's trust and love...a trial for now isn't it...

something that you are both doing together and individually at the same time...

take care
