Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hope you’re okay @Shaz51. Saw you were around earlier. My dog wants to do an early morning reconnaissance of the yard lately and I lock the door so she can’t get out and bark at possums. Unfortunately that means that I have to get up to let her out if she needs to do a pee. I called her bluff one night and she vomited so I have been giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Good morning @Shaz51 trust you got back to sleep.

'Morning @Faith-and-Hope

Mr D saw therapist yesterday, plan was that she was going to start to tackle some heavy duty things. I will not be asking Mr D anything about it, these are things for him alone to work through, he may not ever want to talk to me about them. I do worry about his gentle soul and I hope she has worked out a good way to help Mr D be more compassionate toward himself.

I am glad you wrote this @Former-Member. I hadn’t really considered it, but at some point, with increased insight, I think my mr. is going to have to have some hard conversations with medical people, and I am not sure I really want to know all about them. It is nice to think of it both as a privacy screen for him, but also a relieving of duty for me. I don’t know whether that is how you feel about it, but there are many different aspects to self-care, both ways.

There were difficult conversations to be had yesterday around my mr and our situation. I remain hopeful of a time when it’s not clandestine.

@Former-Member

whilst this might be very difficult for you....

mr darcy does have to be responsible for his own health and want to make changes for the better...perhaps he is now at that stage from the point of view of therapist...or might need a gentle push in that direction...

you are still very much a part of his journey...you are still helping and supporting him...

you are being there for him ...

change can be hard but also can bring about the best results at times...

wishing you both the best...

Good morning @Shaz51
Hope you were able to get some sleep.
Were you up that late (or was it early) for a reason or just not able to sleep.
