Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

While we can’t make a difference @outlander, going to a psych is just “raking over the coals” ..... it can become unsettling rather than supportive, like a stuck record.

My visits do also form a record though. It demonstrates that I have sought support for myself and my family, and it’s a record of the differentbehaviours and stages we are struggling with .... so the psych is an advocate for my mental health too ...... and he will speak up if he feels I am becoming unwell and need a referral to other services.

Oh ok thats fair enough @Faith-and-Hope yes i can imagine that would be unsettling for you. Im glad you have a psych as an advocate though and has you and your families best interests at heart too.
Just make sure you take care of yourself and seeking support here when you need 💜💙💛❤💕

Sometimes anything we say feels inadequate @Shaz51. Are you concerned he is becoming suicidal again?
