Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Always hard to know @Shaz51
Meds can cause blunting of affect, this means that the ability to show emotions is diminished. I am also mindful of what Enigma told us how that when she was unwell she was not able to express love. I have not been in a situation where I have felt Mr D did things so he could be seen to be doing the right thing,

Brene Brown says that you can’t selectively numb ..... so if you are numbing, you are numbing everything .....

I imagine that there are depression meds that cause numbing. With my hubby he is using behavioural things to numb.

@Shaz51 @Former-Member

major depression is absolutely wicked as it affects just about every area of a person's life...

ability to express emotions...is a huge part at times..

especially when unable to cry...when in deep depression..

as much as it is hard for you...yes it is hard...his present to you was a huge step for him if he is still deeply depressed....to cook for you too...

I am always pleasantly surprised by the depth of love that you two have for each other despite so much that you have to go through..read about difficulties of step children too...so much additional pressure there as well...

as others are always telling you,,keep on making special mrs shaz times to help you through the hard moments..

you are allowed to feel that way as well ...I wanted to add....you can feel disappointed ....upset...the fact that you acknowledge those feelings will help you as well...are you still seeing a psychologist?
