Mr. f&h tripped and fell again yesterday while jogging ..... skinned his hands and knees for the second time in a month.

A lot of psych drugs are linked to memory impairment and other difficulties as a patient ages @Shaz51.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I have a suspicion it is a result of being as exhausted as he is that mr. f&h is falling down suffering aggressive dermatitis etc @Shaz51 ..... but without being able to intervene, it all has to keep running its course.

I know you understand. It must be so hard to watch mr. shaz playing around with meds and dosages and having little control over that yourself without a dr’s intervention.

It’s where, as a carer, you can be made to feel invisible and invalidated, yet you are the first in the firing line in terms of the outcomes ..... 😔

@Shaz51

Perhaps you might suggest to GP that it might be wise for meds to be dispensed by way of Webster pack or the like as Mr Shaz not remembering properly. GP might also need to limit PRNs only giving a few at a time.

His birthday might be a good time for GP to set in place as part of an 'annual review' or the like.

I am so grateful that Mr D involves me in his care and he is happy to comply with pdoc instruction that I dispense meds, as @Faith-and-Hope says, feeling included in some way, not invisible, having ones role recognized.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Yes, inclusion is definitely better if you can ask about it and it happens for you.

Maybe if we arrive at a diagnosis sometime I can become more involved. From where we are at the moment it’s just not happening.

I like @Darcy’s suggestion about a Webster pack, but it depends whether it’s not remembering that is causing the problem, or whether it is deciding to self-medicate according to his own ideas. That would be much harder to control.

Couldn't agree more @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope
For me being included as part of the solution and not treated as part of the problem would make a world of difference.

@Shaz51 the sleeping meds scare me the most.
My mr. can take only half and needs almost 24hours to recover it completely zombies him.
