Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Ok @Former-Member

Had a councilling appointment this afternoon. It occured to me after I got home that I did not raise my thoughts that I wanted to talk about after topic Tuesday. Got sidetracked talking about othet stuff.

Always so much to talk about it is easy to get sidetracked. Keep telling myself to write a list and give it to the councillor before we start but never do.

On the bright side I have mostly gotten over my sulks about that. For now.

How are things for you and mr Darcy.

Hope you found the session helpful @Determined even if you didn't get to the thoughts you were wanting to bring up. If appropriate, the sane chat line might be an option.

I see a new counselor later this week, one that is local, hoping they aren't fixated on mindfulness.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I am pleased to have found someone not fixated on mindfulness @Former-Member, She raised this afternoon though that she didnt think she was any benifit to me. ? So Im thinking this was possibly my last visit or possibly 1 more. ? Might ask for 1 more in the new year to specifically discuss feelings about this years events.

Told her she had been very helpful in the time that I had seen her. Seems to be the good ones like to turn people over to move on and help the next person. I don't know but for situations such as ours (carers seeking support for their caring role) I see ongoing support as necessary maintenance. Well it is for me anyway.

For me there will always be things that I need to talk about to vent in a safe environment and get some objective feedback. Even if that sometimes means being told I am over reacting or out of line in a particular issue.

I have tried the sane chat line but have never had any success in getting through .

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

The session was quite helpful @Former-Member they always are, it is just disappointing that ongoing support is not available. Especially when I finally find someone who I can talk to and leave with fresh strength and determination, even if nothing has been fixed. (The reality is it probably never will be). But having that renewed strength having reduced some of the pressure by talking what is getting on top of me is invaluable.
