Funny that there can be motivation when the stomach is involved @Shaz51

Going ok @outlander, my concern during the week was for someone else.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I am struggling atm with the DELUSIONAL side of my ex husband's schizophrenia.

He denies it and many many other things which is having more dreadful consequences for family members.

Part of his delusion is pretending that NOT going to a psych means he was not properly diagnosed. He shows none of the maturity of attitude that @Jacques just mentioned.

He did not really show it when I met him when he was 35 but spent all his time trying to prove the mother of his first born child was psychotic.

NOW he is over 60 has been in Australia for 45 years and is over 60. SO not all people with similar diagnoses act in the same manner.

As I said to son's friend today. I AM NOT SURE MY BROTHER WOULD HAVE SUICIDED IF HE HAD NOT BEEN INFLUENCED BY MY EX- HUSBAND. My ex was so negative. I know I left him a better man than I originally encountered.

I do not actively BLAME HIM .. but he is very immature for an old over privleged white WASPIE male.

It is lovely that my ex ..has a pleasant life in his own inner world and I do not deny him that right ... but somehow our family's basic birth rights have been damaged by my exes delusions about me being irresponsible when I put BODY MIND AND SOUL to sticking up for him, mental health activism and the 3 children.

Wives should not be expected to live in perpetual humilation and extreme agony whilst working for people indulge their private delusional whims. My children of those wives should not suffer the way my biological children have.

Hi @Appleblossom,

I am havign the same problem with my aunt, her delusions and actions are impacting me so badly, when does the time come when the individuals rights cease for the good of the family unit? i have saught treatment so mums family can visit without me losing control, but some people refuse to get help, my mum has been told she will have an early death because of the mental and financial stress she is putting on us, but mum raised my aunt and her love for her sister is stopping her from letting her go.

it is so tough to see the ones we love deteriorate and their is nothing we can do to help them. i know in the past involentary admissions into hospital have been problematic, but the MH system has moved past the assylum days, treatments have changed.

We have bee ntold we can't force my aunt ont otreatment, she has to chose to, but what if the persons deterioration means they don't have the capacity to make the choice?

Im so sorry you have not had the care and support society owes you, because of you 1 person has not entered high cost health care. you, me and all carrers and people with mental illness deserve better from family, friends, society and governments

Gentle hugs my friend.

Hello fellow up and downers

Mr Darcy had a couple of appts today. Ortho happy with progress and surgical staples have been removed. Pdoc also pleased to see him doing well, she is happy to support a very cautious taper of one of his meds. This is being done one increment down then review, if travelling well another increment down followed by review etc. It is going to be a slow well monitored process which I am very happy about. I hope for Mr D that he will do okay without it as treatment emergent adverse effects are not good.

Managed to sneak in a hair cut for myself between his appts which was a bonus.

Darcy
