Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I am thinking short trips to be the way to go for us too @Shaz51, the last couple of trips that have been longer have confirmed to me that Mr D finds it all too much especially if we have constant company. The expense vs time away is something that is a bit hard to swallow as all our family are interstate but I am learning that is probably what needs to happen do that Mr D does not get stressed (+ subsequently feels guilty for ruining the holiday).

Compared with petrol costs, would flying down work out just as cost effective and less tiring Shaz?

Mr @Former-Member twin Mr Shaz is the same and we will be staying with S3 who had 5 in the house , and S2 lives not too far away from there ,

would flying down work out just as cost effective and less tiring -- it would but he does not want too

we are going by plane to sydney in 2 weeks to see our S1 and our D1 is coming with us and S1 is picking us up from the airport

mr shaz has been cutting back on his meds again because of tireness , after a week with the reduce dose he is having dreams, finding it hard to fall asleep and i can see other things coming back -- well yesterday he was extra stressed and he took a full meds last night and then slept for 3 hours this afternoon

I am learning that it is quite frequent to tweak medications. I am having to be careful re increased tiredness. Mostly it is accepted that meds are only a partial answer.

Good Luck for you and Mr Shaz @Shaz51

@Shaz51

Living without being afraid ... a work in progress for me.

I am a bit of a stickler with drugs and need clear instructions esp if they have addiction potential. After all we went through I am now hypervigilant in relation to drugs. I ended up calling hospital today as Mr D not good again and I reckon it is quite likely related to a prn pain med. Will see how he goes in the next 12-24 hours but the nurse I spoke to gave good clear info which I will be following up in with GP tomorrow.

Mr D saw physio today who told him to use walking stick (or frame). He does not want to be seen in public with either of them (even with community nurse).

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Consulted Dr Google, this drug can cause anxiety and panic attacks as well as hallucinations in some patients, God only knows what it can do to a patient with preexisting anxiety. It also has a major interaction with one of his psych drugs...I do not know what if anything Mr Darcy was told about this but I was not warned to watch for particular symptoms.
