Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Went to pre-admission clinic yesterday. The stress of things is starting to overwhelm Mr D, think I might need to take some carer leave and see about some mobility aids for him. The emotional strain he is under is quite distressing, crying all the way home from the last few appts (over an hour's drive), each time he puts his trousers on (he has abandoned socks) and most nights. Three weeks seems like an eternity to him, my main concern is that he wants to get things done and spends too long weight bearing. I asked if we could see the physio pre surgery (not usual routine) as Mr D needs clear instruction about what he can and cannot do, he could damage his hip more by weight bearing too much.

Found a job Mr Darcy can do sitting down - sorting through boxes of paperwork. He is not in a space to think about what he can do to help himself at present but seemed quite happy to do it.

In the compilation where she talks about gratitude I had to smile, each time we get a red light we give thanks for something - have been doing this for years (after we heard a talk where the speaker said when he gets stopped at a school crossing he is thankful for his kids education). Mr Darcy & I usually take it in turns to be grateful but the last few times I have been going solo on it, hopeful after surgery he will be back to it.
