Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Bummer @soul does she worry about getting wet?

Needed a rub down with a towel when we got home. She's beside me on the sofa now, feeling quite content @Former-Member

Just where you need her to be @soul. I would not be without our dogs (missing them - they are in situ at a boarding kennel).

Are your dogs indoor residents @Shaz51?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

She was next to me @Former-Member - she's just shot out the doggy door to bark at a possum. Funny how she can be fast asleep one moment and off like a rocket the next.

She's never been in a boarding kennel and she's almost 9 years old. I don't think she'd cope too well. Too spoilt and very much a people's dog. She's actually my daughter's dog but guess who takes care of her?

Are your dogs indoor residents --- sure are @Former-Member

cheeky little things , one wanted a play yesterday after work , she got Mr shaz chasing her through the house , around the house and the next minute they were both sitting down in front of tv

I'm picturing that scenario @Shaz51 and smiling. Our furry friends can give us so much joy.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Even though she is your daughters, sounds like your pooch has a @soul mate. Do you cut her hair or is it off to the dog groomers?

Reckon Mr Shaz might be a bit fonder of the dogs than he cares to admit, does he prefer the dachshunds, corgis or terrier?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

She is indeed a very good friend @Former-Member. Unlike her human companions, she hates getting her fur cut. The groomer comes to our place and I can hear her yelps and whines of protest from inside the house.

She doesn't like being apart from us and vice versa so leaving her at the beauty salon isn't the best option.

I know K9 hair cuts are $$ @soul I help a friend with her dog, but she is placid and does not seem to mind.

@soul @Faith-and-Hope - will comment here, not in hot choc thread.
I have found it too heart wrenching to go on the LE side, even this side can be hard. I really feel for the patients on the LE side and feel quite helpless (as I often do with other carers). Off the forum I have friends with MI (Sz, PTSD, depression) and connect with them regularly.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I understand that completely @Former-Member .... re LE-Forum .... and we all have our saturation point ....

Part of the weight of our own carer situation means we can be very limited from reaching far beyond it emotionally. The fact that WH is so absent from his own condition has me reaching outward at the moment, but I seriously suspect that that tide will turn when his truth hits home.

I have bonded closely with some LE-Forum friends, and they will be my priority to stay in touch with, but I am likely to be less present there generally. That's my presumption at this stage anyway. As with everything in life, I will need to wait and see ....

That was a long-winded way of saying "I hear you .... "
