My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Hello @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope, @soul, @Determined, @Former-Member

they took my hubby off the support list saying -- " we don`t know how to help you if you don`t help yourself "

we were angry, and I was unsure what to do back then , and hubby didn`t want to do anything about it , so that is why we are alone

@Hello @Shaz51

they? If he doesn't help himself?? He is working. He is part of a loving relationship! What part of that is not helping himself.

whichever organisation there has to be an appeal system where you can appeal the decision. Careers Australia should be able to offer assistance, direction.

give them a call first and let us know the outcome.xx

Hi @Shaz51 - that is not very helpful of them to do that to you and your hubby! Is it long to get an appointment with the specialist?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

@Shaz51 I am still reeling from your last post. I know it must be difficult for you but it is worth a try while he is amenable, there will be a wait and if it is anything like where I live there is such a change in staff the same doc might not even be around.

Hello @Shaz51

do you mean ask for a referral for psychiatrist or psychologist he saw before?

if so yes get referral often waiting period. Mr Shaz has a right to choose who he wants to see.

who made previous comment about not helping himself? Gp? Are there other gps at clinic?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Shaz51
Why not make appointments with big hospital and the one he has been seeing? there normally are huge waiting lists to see specialists, and then you can pick the one who has the first available opening? you could cancel the other one or still go? Best of luck x

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

yes @Shaz51 @Grasshopper3

see reply below from matosh. if mr shaz is happy about hospital mental unit, ring and ask if he can see a psychiatrist there before you drive all the way over. Explain on the telephone, how your husband is feeling. This would definitely be the best outcome for Mr Shaz.

Driving there is more work for you. Could you break it up and stop for a coffee on way back somewhere that you both like. Mr Shaz might like that you are getting something out of it too. I know that he worries a lot about you.

Let us know what transpires.

Good luck xx
