Not a good night

Not a good night

I'm just trying to put my emotions on here so they dont eat me up.

I was going so well last night and then I said something that I know is a trigger for my partner, it was something about intimacy and I wanted to discuss but I guess my timing was not so good. Either it came out wrong or he was just so badly triggered by it that he went right off at me. I have had no sleep as he kept yelling at me through the night and even this morning. I'm just trying to keep calm at the moment so I dont start crying or breaking down at work. Its like they expect us to get over BPD over night and as soon as I do something that is "BPD" i get told how useless I am and that I'm just like every other BPD person out there, all we do is cause pain and chaos for everyone. Right now I'm numb and worried about going home later, infact he has told me in a rage not to come home. I know what I said was wrong but I didnt mean it the way it came out and he never lets me explain and just says that I'm lying and being manipulative - I tried apologising a few times but it was too late. I didnt react to him in the sense I didnt yell I just stood there and took it. I dont know what to think as soon as he starts on me its like my whole world comes crumbling down no matter how good I have been - I really hate that about myself.... I can feel the darkness coming over me right now and trying to fight it but I dont know if I have the energy or strength....

Hi

thanks for the replies.

Not sure what state you guys are in - I'm in SA and just started raining here about 5 mins ago.

I tell you I'm sick of this tropical weather down here though, usually its dry and hot this time of year but its like Spring has only just started only getting in mid 20's with occasionaly warmer day like today but so muggy!

How is everybody going?

@darrenhayes I hope you are feeling better - I think once this xmas crap is over a lot of us will feel a lot better!

Hi @Shaz51 @darrenhayes @Appleblossom @Former-Member Great to see support coming in for @Change123

Hello to you too @Change123. I'm feeling very proud of you for reaching out for support here on the forums and for practising your skills you have. It sounds like you are trying really hard to remain as calm and focused as you can in a situation such as you have explained.

I'm wondering if a quiet walk with your dog after work may be an option for you in continuing to try and stay as centred as you can. I think you're dog would love being out with you too!

Take Care @Change123 and please remember the community are here for you if you need.

Re: Not a good night

Hi @Change123,

It sounds like you have alot going on at home with your partner at the moment and have been trying really hard to keep calm and continue with your emotional discipline strategy. It is great to hear that you feel as though you can handle your emotions and completely understandable that you are worried about what is waiting for you when you get home- I think this uncertainty would provoke anxiety in anyone experiencing similar circumstances. This is also made harder by the fact that when he gets into a state like this that it can last for weeks and we certainly dont want to see you get to a state where you are a "crying mess" as you say. I am glad to hear that you have been able to do your breathing exercises and keep putting one foot in front of the other. This can be incredibly hard to do, particularly when you arent in a supportive home environment and are uncertain about the future of your relationship with your partner. It is incredibly hard to feel alone and the fact that you are getting some confusing feedback from your partner, where he is telling you he doesnt want you around and then saying how much he loves is such a difficult place to be and triggers that feeling of abandonment, as you said.

You have been doing really well to keep going and I understand that you said you have no friends or family, but I am wondering if you have any other support at the moment?

As you would already, this is also a time when it is really important to look after yourself. Are there some thing you have been doing or think would be able to do that would give you some time to look after you amongst everything that is going on at the moment?

Keep posting here too, I hope it helps to share this with us and get some support this way. We are thinking of you.

Talk soon

Thanks @Former-Member@Former-Member @Appleblossom@Shaz51

That meant a lot your responses - I feel liek someone cares and no I honestly dont even have a friend I can call I am completely isolated but I have been playing relaxing music like J butler, pink floyd and The superjesus to keep my mind calm and I'm actually feeling ok at the moment.

Its raining here so wont go for walk but I plan to play with him and give some sort of attention adn then after i make tea I'm crashing to bed while I can for a while and try to catch up on some sleep - if he lets me!

Thanks again!
