Oscillation between two mind sets

Oscillation between two mind sets

Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of things and don’t feel like my trauma defines me and I don’t feel so ashamed and scared. Other times I want to hide from the world and feel like a **** (I’m not going to say the word here since I don’t want to trigger anyone) 😭, I feel so ashamed that I don’t want people to know

I'm safe for now

Thanks for letting me know that you are safe for now @creative_writer

I definitely agree that sometimes it can seem easier to put on a mask for others, but I also know that you are so supported and the support is there for you if you need.

Is there something you can engage in right now or this afternoon that might help you feel a little bit better? Or something that might take your mind off of things for a little bit?

@amber22 I will be taking a shower in a bit and making some matcha too.

I’ve done the quiz which was okay. My thoughts are still loud though, I didn’t get enough relief afterwards, still lost in feelings of shame 😫. I’m still having urges too, I hope they go away soon or I don’t even know what to do

Oh I love matcha! It is so good! @creative_writer

Good job on doing the quiz! I am sorry that you're having urges, are you able to pop something on the tv or go for a walk and listen to a podcast or something that might stop you from thinking as much right now?

What do you have planned for tonight?

Sending you hugs

@amber22, actually I think I’m getting a return of manic symptoms, it’s so frustrating that depression and mania seem to love being with each other even though they are polar opposites. I’ll be out tonight for dinner so hopefully it’ll be easier to resist urges once I’m out of the house

I wanted to apologise for how I’ve been lately. I’m sorry for feeling so low and sick, I never wanted to be a burden. I’m sorry

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

Hey @creative_writer you are not a burden so no need to be sorry and the community is here to support you when you are not in a good place. Sometimes we get a bit low and need a little more support than usual and that's ok too. Thank you for apologising and that demonstrates your courage and how you feel about the community on the Forums. As I said though it's not an issue at all. ❤️ RiverSeal

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@RiverSealbrain has been engaging in a lot of overthinking lately. I hadn’t been well today, feeling a bit better now. Migraine plus one sided weakness in my body limited what I could do. I think some of us grow up being invalidated that you feel like your emotions are too much. I felt like I had to swallow my own emotions and needs just to keep everyone else happy. I feel that by being miserable, I am failing others

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

I'm sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well today @creative_writer glad you are feeling a bit better now.

I can relate to what you said about emotions being invalidated growing up. The Forums are a safe space for you now to express your emotions and how you feel. The community is here to support you and we all need to feel that we can be ourselves here.

If you can identify that you feel like this you can make decisions on what to do about it. What would change how you feel @creative_writer?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@RiverSeal learning to be okay to reach out for support is something I’ll have to work on. I tend to feel guilty. I feel guilty putting myself first because I felt like I was always meant to put others first. I do fear being judged and rejected, I know it’s social anxiety speaking. Anxiety wants you to avoid whatever makes you anxious, but social anxiety does require you to safely desensitise yourself. The forums have been a good place to start. Relationships ultimately require us to take risks, it’s hard to trust with cptsd, but if one wants to start feeling safer around others, one needs to take those baby steps
