~ The Toolshed ~

~ The Toolshed ~

So I've decided to create a new space, similar to The Ice-Memery but instead of being silly memes, these are memes/images/words etc. that I've found that are more like tools and insights for recovery. Hence, I welcome you to:

~ The Toolshed! ~

🔧💡🔩🤔

These are things I've found that are insightful, provide psychoeducation, or that have helped inspire me in my recovery journey. I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! But to start us off, I would love to share a nice lil stack of memes/pics I've found that I thought were really worth the read.

P.S. If you haven't already, you can also check out our Coping Toolbox for ideas and strategies to help you when you need to cope with the hard stuff!

So without further ado, lemme kick us off!

Will just tag a few forumites to start, pls do tag anyone you feel would enjoy or wanna contribute to this thread!

@Jynx and @Former-Member I agree with both of you. It’s very likely a serviceable behaviour for me to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Storing energy required for opportunities or unpredictable outcomes.

Yes absolutely based on past trauma events but that’s life.

Also my subconscious running inventory and running program updates. I have learned a LOT of valuable positive mental health and relationship skills over 10 months.

There are so many factors that culminate in something that happens by coincidence.

Thank you both I appreciate the time and thought that you have given to me. I am very grateful and fortunate for what you have done. G

I LOVE the clown one @Glisten .

You're right. I need to stop going to the circus.

Too funny.

OMG this so much this!! You have defenses (survival instincts) which are your boundaries and confidence, identity, self respect / self preservation. Narcs break them down so they have control over you. Plus all predators foster a dependency in their victims, so you feel that you cannot leave.

Yeah, an abusive husbands beats his wife but does not go to work the next day to beat his boss. It is a choice. They can control themselves.

That is what happened to me. It escalates over time

Preach!

I went thru this, it is called post separation abuse:

@tyme depends if the circus is hidden behind a fake facade.

1870 neoclassical-style architecture had faux marble columns. Beautifully hand-painted veined faux marble made of wood and plaster adorned some of the most austere houses.

Open the front door walk in and it’s a bloody circus 🎪 complete with clown 🤡

No one prepares you for that :pile_of_poo:

If you follow my metaphors

🤣

Re: ~ The Toolshed ~

Yes I follow the metaphors loud and clear 🙂 @Glisten

Totally agree.

I actually chatted to someone last night who was complaining about EVERYTHING. Complaining about people, groups, etc... In the end, it was down to "Just do what you need to and leave".... I guess, in life, there are times when we just need to do what's right and leave the rest to sort itself out.

Don't go sniffing out for poo, jump into it and then complaining about it. It's your own fault.

@Glisten @tyme

People with character deficiency are not able to emote, so they mimic natural human emotions in order to appear "sane" refer to "Mask Of Sanity" coined in 1941, or "Veneer of Civility". They realise early on as children they are different. They do not feel emotions deeply like healthy humans. Imagine how shallow and boring their lives must be. For them boredom is pain, so they create chaos to "feel" anything. Abuse is a stimulant. They are also drawn to drugs as another stimulant to alleviate the boredom. Some dress to impress, lovebomb and goom their victims into a relationship, that is when the cycle of abuse starts.

The Character Deficient "person" in my life was low functioning. So the superficial charm is missing. Instead he is guarded, and that is how they hide their pathology. Soon enough though the mask slips and they reveal their true selves. I found it startling as a child to find how different he was to other kids. The blunt affect... Cold and aloof, lack of remorse etc.
