Didn't mean to get your back up. Meant quite literally "people" and not yourself...

Wasn't trying to imply you did anything wrong, either.

I'm voting yes.

My whole family is.

Everyone deserves representation, especially about matters that involve their community.

I've read the thread several times. I find it interesting that you, Jay, are feeling s troubled as I am, but virtually opposite and yet the same.

I am so very fearful that a Yes will entrench racism in the Constitution, and I don't want Australia and my family torn apart that way.

My sincere hope is that No will succeed, and that we will move forward as a more united Australia than we ever have been. The division driving has troubled me all my life, and I really don't know just who/what is behind it.

My hope is that with all the wrongs and rorts that have been uncovered, all the open discussions that are now happening, that poor legislations will be corrected, and we will all be treated as equals, as we all truly are.

Either way, I'm very concerned that there will be a lot of hurt everywhere, and it will take so much time to heal that. I am referring to the emotional/mental hurt that all of us individuals are feeling.

We all have our own perspectives and will hurt in our own ways.

Please look after yourself , Jay. The sun will rise on Sunday. We will both see that. We both have to move forward whatever the vote comes out as.

I'm pleased you have people on here to support you.

Take care.

Can you tell me what division has troubled you and how?

Hi @ArraDreaming

Hmmm. So many things. I'll state some, but in no particular order.

Have you noticed that most of the main drivers of the NO campaign are Aboriginal? Have you noticed that they are basically wanting Australians to unite and work together and come together as one nation?

Have you noticed that many, seems like most to me, that are driving the YES campaign are "white", and are pushing for the Constitution to recognise Australians as either "Aboriginal" or "non-Aboriginal" ? Is that not being racist?

I have also noticed that when asked simple questions, the YES people only bring up 200 plus years ago, or actually abuse the person asking the question. Even in Parliament that happens.

I haven't noticed much of the reverse. Have you heard Jacinta Price, or Tony Shaw abuse people?

The British have seen to it that all our ancestors were "displaced" . Aboriginal people displaced within their own country, whereas some of mine were deported from their home country. Some were what are now called refugees, they were escaping persecution and/or death if they stayed in their own country.

That happened. Past tense. The Poms did that everywhere they went, and other invading type peoples as well, Spanish etcetera.

Please ask anything you like, I will answer honestly.

Hugs (I'm one of those huggy people 🙂 )

Thank you for explaining @BlueBells but your example of No voters not abusing people is incorrect, I shared above some of the comments I recieved online recently that are hurtful and abusive

@ArraDreaming

Sadly, I am not surprised. There are all sorts of people in every group.

The reason I am voting NO is because I want an Australia that is equality, no one group above nor below another. I don't trust the Voice, because they , politicians, will not come clean on what it really is. And they will know already.

I'm aware that some will vote NO because they feel that Aboriginal people are already over supported financially. I think there is truth in that, but look at the mismanagement, theft put simply, of that funding. At least the referendum has exposed heaps of that.

There is a lot of emotional and psychological tactics being used, especially by the YES group. That is not honest at all.

Agreeing or disagreeing, that will happen. However, I've always felt that when people resort to swearing and abuse, it is showing they are lacking the ability to discuss. Pretty much, it is showing their own fear and lack of conviction in what they are saying they believe.

An old saying: "When people throw mud, they are losing ground."

Feel free to ask, I will not abuse you. We must believe our convictions, but be able to accept others have their own views. Ours are different, but that is it. They are different. At the end of the day, we are Australians. This is our home.

Hugs
