Nothing feels real

Nothing feels real

I had a migraine triggered yesterday from barely sleeping and still recovering from it. I slept better last night, mind still feels very foggy. This morning I felt discomfort in my body, my mind went to when I used to feel it years ago. Then I noticed myself feeling distant, sort of floaty. I hope I can get through the day today with uni

Re: Nothing feels real

@Snowie, I feel so stupid and incapable for being like this. How am I going to deal with trauma content when I become a social worker?

@creative_writer just take it one step at a time. Just concentrate on getting through today.

@Snowie, I don’t want my issues to be the reason for turning down professional development on placement. Tom it’s on trauma informed care. I feel utterly useless

I'm sorry you feel that way @creative_writer It is hard when we feel useless.

Is there anything nice you can do for yourself tonight?

Re: Nothing feels real

@Snowie, I’ve had dinner. Still feel so emotionally charged, don’t think I can say anything reasonable right now. I feel both physical and emotional pain. I don’t think there is much that can be done. I hate myself for what I am and I can’t change that right now

I can understand the hating ourselves @creative_writer It is a hard feeling to sit with.

Please know we are here for you

@Snowie, thank you 💖. I know you probably have your own stuff going on too. This is probably the lowest I’ve been this week. There is so much I want to do, but there are so many hurdles, I feel defeated and broken 😔

@creative_writer I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time tonight hun. Be gentle with yourself yeah? If being hard on ourselves worked, it would have worked by now. Is there one kind thing you can do for yourself tonight?

@Jynx, I’ve been trying some prayers.

Is there any way to erase the memories of SA?

Re: Nothing feels real

Hmm @creative_writer I don't know for sure. Erasing memories sounds like a big task. I think for most, recovery is about learning to become tolerant to the distress in mind and body, and rebuilding a sense of personal and interpersonal safety. To move towards a point where we don't forget or push away, but we also aren't as incapacitated by the memories.

I can understand very well the desire to want to forget. It is incredibly difficult to have to go through what you're going through. You deserve peace - and I believe it can be found without needing to erase it all. Dunno if this is helpful, but I hope it brings you some small comfort.
