Exercise has to start somewhere...

Exercise has to start somewhere...

I'm feeling like this may be the start of something, or at least I am hoping I can stick with it. I started cycling to work again, having not done so for several years. My physical health has been very average as I am overweight and have no real muscle tone or aerobic fitness. When my cpstsd is bad I find it really hard to stick to healthy life routines, but I am tired of my anxiety controlling me so much, so I am throwing everything at it. I already have a good psychologist, I eat pretty healthily and my immediate family are supportive so I figure getting healthy and trying to rebuild some sort of social life may help me reach my goal of living with my fear, shame & anxiety in a position where I can have some control over them.

If you see this post days or weeks in the future, check in with me to help motivate me to stay on track.

Thanks a million.

All the best @Boppa

The more often you go through these motions the easier it will be to maintain.

Good on you for believing in yourself! 🙏

Good on you @Boppa

I used to ride across town to uni. Cycling means you face real fear and anxiety a lot with cars and keeping the thing moving and balanced. It takes a lot of energy. Give yourself credit.

Apple has to get off puta and do in house exercises now. Thanks for reminder!

Road riding freaks me out a bit, luckily my ride to and from work is all cycle-ways and footpaths, it's a bit of a longer route but it is a lovely ride mainly along the river 😁

Great work @Boppa don’t put too much pressure on yourself to get there all at once. Just remember every small step is getting you closer to your goal.

Thanks a million @Krishna I'm trying to keep that positivity flowing as often as possible, I think I might me emerging from a very hard patch!

Re: Exercise has to start somewhere...

Thanks @Rockdog thanks for your encouragement and advice, I will definitely be mindful of not piling the pressure on myself. The good thing about my ride to work is that it is killing a few birds with the one stone so it's easier to maintain than many exercise plans I have previously tried. Last time I embarked on the cycling to work I maintained it for well over a year and then unfortunately had a tyre blow out at speed and the accident put me off until now. My route to work at the moment is not too complicated and mainly on cycle-ways do I do feel more confident.

Hi @Boppa yes having something like the ride to work is a good idea. It is a bit less of a drag than the treadmill

Yep hold onto that feeling @Boppa. Emerging from a hard patch is a wonderful feeling and keep that in mind as motivation to keep at it moment by precious moment. Well done 🙏
