Like that @Faith-and-Hope, didn't know anyone celebrated the baptism. Love that!

Re: Far and Away

Celebrate all the ancient church dates in Orthodxy @Former-Member .... the 12 Great Feasts of the year are:

The Nativity of the Theotokos, 8 September
The Exaltation of the Cross, 14 September
The Presentation of the Theotokos, 21 November
The Nativity of Christ/Christmas, 25 December
The Baptism of Christ — Theophany, also called Epiphany, 6 January
The Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, 2 February
The Annunciation, 25 March
The Sunday before Pascha (Easter) — the Entry into Jerusalem or Flowery/Willow/Palm Sunday
Forty Days after Pascha (Easter) — the Ascension of Christ
Fifty Days after Pascha (Easter) — Pentecost
The Transfiguration, 6 August
The Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Theotokos, 15 August

** Theotokos is Mary ....

Theotokos (Greek Θεοτόκος Greek pronunciation: [θeoˈtokos]) is a title of Mary, mother of Jesus, used especially in Eastern Christianity. The usual translation is "God-bearer".

The greatest feast is Pascha (Easter) which is a moving date .... every four years it aligns with the Roman Catholic Easter, which is the one most Protestant churches follow, having branched from the RC church during the 1500's forward ...

Re: Far and Away

They are good history lessons, great way to raise kids. Do your baby dragons still go to church? Wish my boy would come back. Just can't imagine a life without faith or a spiritual heritage.
How was your evening @Faith-and-Hope

Re: Far and Away

Anything that makes me feel closer to Jesus @TAB, that's my version of Christianity. But I understand how 'rituals' can become meaningless to some.

Re: Far and Away

4 of mine do @Former-Member .... part of my S1's situation is a drop-off from church attendance .... but they (+ DIL) do show up for the pageantry of the Pascha (Easter) celebrations .... DIL raised Pentecostal but baptised Orthodox before marriage.

Good thing about our faith is that it's so wrapped up in cultural practices that just living the Greek way is practicing faith in a way.
