Re: FAR AND AWAY

Heading back outside now @Snowie Rain has stopped for now. We have not had a lot of rain over the last couple of months either so it is nice to get a few showers today.

Re: FAR AND AWAY

I thought it better I post here if that's okay with you @Zoe7 :

Wow! That's awesome that you get M-W kid-free! The teachers here only get 1 day to plan and prepare.

As for the workload, I've seen so many graduate teachers spend so many hours planning and preparing. I'm glad to hear that it doesn't take so much as half the time now.

And being able to go home at break times??? What's that? That means you live super close! Wow! My sister got a new role and it's 6 mins drive from home. Yet, I don't think it'll give her enough time to come home then go back. They only get 30 mins. Is yours longer than 30 mins in terms of your break?

How have things been for you in terms of your health, your family etc?

Re: FAR AND AWAY

We have 40 minutes for lunch @tyme Some days it is half that with outside duty but I was lucky enough to have 3 days last year where I had no lunchtime duty. It probably won't be the same this year but I won't know that until next week. I am 10-15 minutes from home (depending on traffic) so just enough time to get home, see the fur babies, and drive back. It takes longer to get to work in the morning with more traffic.

My health is okay. Certainly did too many things these holidays that were super physical so my back has been better - and lots of small bumps and bruises. My thumb has not been good for a while - still getting the occasional pains and aches from when I broke it. I have also had some MH issues to work through. Had a very unexpected session with my psych a couple of weeks ago where we discussed some pretty big things ....neither of us expected that. I thought I was okay but it kinda crept up on me - so part of my anxiety has been that also.

Family is as okay as they can be. Mum and Dad are certainly showing their age and finding it increasingly difficult to do some things. My sister is also not great. I have told her she needs to see someone but can't force her. She is a psychologist so I do understand her reluctance but everyone needs someone at times.

Re: FAR AND AWAY

Makes sense @Zoe7 .

Education itself is such a stressful industry to work in. I take my hat off to you.

Yes, I gathered that you tend you do a lot of physcial work around the place. Your sore thumb was from when you broke it on the trailer, right? It sounds like there are long term impacts! Oh no!

Please look after yourself. I'm heading off now but I look forward to hearing how next week goes for you. Take it easy.

Re: FAR AND AWAY

Unfortunately there has been a couple of longer term impacts @tyme I also have a large cyst in the joint on the finger next to the thumb which was also damaged. It is not getting any bigger but is annoying at times. My new GP has seen it and we are monitoring - I see her again in a couple of weeks so will discuss options then.

Goodnight tyme. Catch you another time ❤️
