Re: Far and Away

Not all my assignments @Zoe7 , but another one anyway. Group exhibition launched today ….. exhausted, but it is also satisfying. One more submission to go !! but it’s a big one.

Hugs n hugs for what you are going through Hon. I know you will miss the kids, but your own health has to be the priority. I know you know that, and are taking all the right steps, but you are also demonstrating responsibility and self-care as an essential in life to those kids. That is worth a lot too ….. so proud of you for making the hard decisions, even with the pharmacy staff .

Re: Far and Away

Thanks @Snowie I have a student coming into our class next year whose parent emailed me to say she thinks her child will love our class as she has heard from other parents how I teach and foster such positive relationships - that was really nice to hear. I have had her sister in our spelling group this year and she is gorgeous so I am excited to have her little sister next year.

@Faith-and-Hope Nearly there Hon ...good luck with the big submission - as always I have no doubt it will be brilliant ❤️

Thanks for the kind words. I do know it is the right thing but it is hard. It is easier to know the kids understand and are all very caring. We started making pom pom animals this morning and it was so lovely seeing some get it straight away and then help their classmates. My class last year was one of my favourite ever but this group is right up there too - very different in a lot of respects but all just as gorgeous.

It's always nice when others recognise how hard you are working with your class @Zoe7

That says a lot about you as their teacher.

Thanks gorgeous ❤️ I do love my job @Snowie 😁

Do you miss it yourself Hon?

Re: Far and Away

I do miss some aspects of it @Zoe7 Seeing their faces everyday, the smiles, the other teachers. I don't miss the school I was at. It was in a very rough neighborhood with lots of different cultural problems and not very well run. I know they have a new principal there, so maybe that is making a difference.

I do want to go back to teaching, but where and when I am not sure.

Re: Far and Away

I get that @Snowie The school I was at for many, many years was similar being a low socio-economic area with a lot of behavioural issues. For many of those years we had a Principal that really did not know how to deal with some of our kids but the Principal that took over for my last couple of years was amazing - she began to really turn the school around. The she left when I was on leave and the person who took over had no idea. I asked not to go back there as she could not only not deal with the kids but was the opposite of supportive to me trying to get back 😢 My parents wanted me to put in a formal complaint but in my experience, that would only have been hard on me as nothing is usually done - but look where I have ended up ...could not be happier with the kids, the school and the management.

With all that you have been through Hon, I would not want to go back to that place either. I really hope you can get back to it sometime. It is such a wonderful job if you have that support around you - and from everything we have chatted about over the years - I have no doubt you are wonderful in the role 💙💙💙

Re: Far and Away

Thanks @Zoe7

The last few years being there I wasn't in the class room that much, but doing more of a coordinators role. I'm not sure which one I would prefer to go back too.

I think the principal can make a huge difference in how the school is run. It makes a big difference also in how the staff are treated.

I might start with some CRT around near where I live.

Re: Far and Away

That sounds like a good idea to start with @Snowie

Yes the Principal makes such a massive difference in schools. Ours is so good with the kids as well as families and staff. Often a Principal can do one or two of those roles needed but some (like ours) is across all areas and does her role in each so well. She is also easy to talk to and that too can make such a massive difference.

I'm glad you have such a supportive principal @Zoe7 It does make the job easier.
