A challenge I would think 😕 Hope this is a time yo rekindle some first love maybe.
Any good churches to visit there? Did you go this morning? Love ancient architecture and history. Churches are great for it. Hugz xox

Want me to talk about how many lollies you could get for a halfpenny @Faith-and-Hope. Now that's really showing up my age. 😆

Re: Far and Away

Well @Zoe7. .... how good are you with knowledge about lollies that don't exist anymore or a lot of the don't? 😆

Re: Far and Away

Probably not my forte @Kurra - I didn't eat many lollies when I was younger - still don't now! My Nan used to have a tin of lollies but I was never really into them - or ice-cream would you believe!!!! I'd have the ocassional chocolate - always plain dairy milk - simple things hey!!!

Re: Far and Away

We had a similar situation @Zoe7. We were only allowed to spend a halfpenny on lollies and since the lolly shop - corner store was a hour and a half driving time away from the farm and the nearest town with real shops the best part of 3 hours driving on poorly maintained dirt roads in a 1934 car it didn't happen often.

Worst thing was we went the 3 hours to church every Sunday and 3 hours back but the pub dining room only sold meals to travellers and didn't sell lollies. 😠

Re: Far and Away

Oh wow - what a long day that would have been - and no lollies to show for it @Kurra very sad

My Nan used to buy a chocolate bar and hide it from everyone else so I could have a piece when I wanted it - which wasn't very often. Everyone else would 'raid' the lolly tin when they would visit but I'd go straight outside and be running around the whole time getting dirty or throwing a ball around somewhere. I spent a lot of time at my Nan and Pop's - most weekends when I was little and basically lived there for all of High School!

Hi @Faith-and-Hope How was your crafty morning for church? How are you doing today?

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Zoe7 @Kurra

The morning was lovely and relaxed. I had to leave towards the end of it to pick S2 up from somewhere, so I didn't end up taking photos of our actual work, but these are the type of palm cross we make -

And here is an example of the donkeys -

You can sit a Criss into one of the little baskets on the donkey's back, so he is carrying the cross.

Re: Far and Away

Whike you're waiting for those @Kurra @Zoe7 ..... here are some more examples of palm leaf craft. Some years we have Orthodox Christians turn up from other cultural background where they have a richer craft tradition for Palm Sunday, and I have seen things like this created -
