A challenge I would think 😕 Hope this is a time yo rekindle some first love maybe.
Any good churches to visit there? Did you go this morning? Love ancient architecture and history. Churches are great for it. Hugz xox

Re: Far and Away

Thanks @Former-Member. It scared the living daylights out of me but was in so much pain work ended up calling the taxi.
I'll update as things progress tomorrow.
Can't get to sleep. Too many drips. I can't tuck either arm up underneath the pillow. My favourite sleeping position of course.
Hope you're starting to recover one step at a time. 🎶💕

Re: Far and Away

Hi guys ....

My turn to just breathe today ....

Upset WH this morning .... his e.d. came up in conversation indirectly and I refused to answer a question he asked me at first cos it meant entering the "no-fly zone" he has set up, where he is pretending his e.d. behaviours don't exist and we are all supposed to pretend along with him ... it's that surreal area where I am not sure whether he is actually believing his own fabrication or not ....

Anyway, he pressed me for an answer, so I warned him it meant mentioning the unmentionable, and he again pressed me to try to understand what I was alluding to ... so there it was, I was in the no-fly zone telling him that it distressed me to engage with behaviours that are connected to hidden behaviours, and that those hidden behaviours represent an illness, which he doesn't believe is one.

And I stated that he is hostile at the mention of it, so what am I supposed to do in this situation ? We are at an impasse ....

It was clear this hit him like a body-blow .... which is where I'm not sure whether he was believing his own hype, or whether he thought the c / s behaviour was so well hidden that I was supposed to be believing it no longer existed, or what ... ?

In any case, I think he was thinking he had established a status quo that enabled him to have a normal family life and an e.d. co-existing harmoniously ... and I've just rocked that boat to its core ....

Whoopsy ....

But I have to operate in my own integrity, or not be me .... and I don't know how long for ... and I am also of the belief that I have to keep standing passively-aggressively against this thing, cos it's wrong, and it's destroying him, and therefore us, without his awareness that that is what is happening ....

Well .... he was passively-aggressively ignoring me this morning, but we have just Skyped D1 and SIL who are back from honeymoon, and that seems to have softened things a bit ... so maybe it's gonna be more okay than I thought earlier today. He's still going to have to process it though.

Let you know what happens.

He's gone out shopping with his mum, and I'm going sight-seeing on my own (missing D1 who woulda come with me in a heartbeat). He also cancelled out of lunch with the kids and me ....

Oh well ... on we go ....

Praying some light gets into his awareness. He is having to run warm water over his fingers and toes when he gets home from jogging cos they've turned white and numb, and he is cross cos his eye is not healing ... eating his own food before we go anywhere ....

Sigh ....

I'm okay .... but rattled in the moment this morning, but it's still just a variation on the same theme .... so I'm not really upset .... just a bit nervous about whether he will become really reactive again. Probably just more emotionally removed from me if anything, but we're doing okay as house-mates anyway ....

💜🌷

Hi Anony18 ... 😊

I went to see a Georgian House museum nearby where we're staying, but it's closed today. Many museums and art galleries are on Mondays in Europe, but J didn't remember that .... it was a good walk anyway 😊

Meeting the kids for lunch now, then I will look into visiting a cathedral this afternoon, but will check whether it's open first ... lol .... otherwise there are a lot of little shops off the street so I might go window shopping and gawking at the architecture, perhaps with a sketch-book and pen in hand.

Streets of Europe are amazing. I loved going there. Even when I got bit lost (given my "wonderful" sense of directions at times!) I never panicked. Just took the sights in 😌

Love cathedrals so much! So many in Europe. It is amazing.

Have fun and I will try to catch you tomorrow 😘💕🌷

Re: Far and Away

Hiya @Faith-and-Hope, understand you're feeling nervous after entering the 'no fly zone' with WH, especially with the 'silent treatment' etc. But you showed intrgrity and were true to yourself and its high time he knew how its affecting you as his wife (hello), and the whole family. I'm sorry he goes off with MIL leaving you on ya own, don't think I could handle that, but you're taking in on the chin and being brave. So wish he could see how this affects you, and love you more. Big hug. This is a time to REALLY enter the WarRoom, pray, pray pray - give it to the Lord, only the HS can break down these powerful addictive mental strongholds. I don't know, maybe tell him (relaxed pillow talk) you're sorry it hurt him but you feel you've lost your hubby to it all and miss him. Maybe. I feel for you and praying for wisdom and strength, you're not alone. Big hug xox

Hope this makes sense, just woke to go toot and nodding off typing. But wanted to let you know 'I hear you' and 'hang in there' xox

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Former-Member .... when you're up and about in the morning ....

The time for that sort of talk with WH was probably some 6.5 years ago, and I was trying hard even at that time to reach him .... but there's this e.d. wall that goes up that convinces his affected brain the black is white and right is left .... it's like he is deaf, dumb and blind to anything except his e.d. related outcomes and masquerading as life-successful .... all around some lost and wounded little boy inside ... with a warlord watching over his interests for him .... just can't reach him at all .... worse in fact because he will listen as though you are actually reaching him with compassion and / or logic .... then build that into his elaborate masquerade .... as in "fore warned is fore armed" ....

When I went to the doctor with him he was saying things like "as if I would xyz .... that would be so lacking in common sense !!" when in fact he was fully engaged in xyz .... and was using precious talks I had had with him, to try to wake him up, as material to defeat my presentation of the issues to the doctor and others. His natural charm is fully engaged here, including his self-deprecating Joker sub-personality. It makes other want to defend him because he is at once charming and vulnerable. It's the sort of presentations womaniser uses, and he was never that before .... grr .... have lost him to being someone else for now ....

It's a very disempowered place to be in, unless I walk out on it all, but that is not only counter-intuitive, it would unleash vindictiveness which is another line of defence he has taken to.

If this was who he was before it would be easier to draw that line in the sand, but its not ... he is crossing in and out of his former value system under the influence of the e.d. .... like a Jekyll and Hyde ....

And I have had it suggested to me that it might not be e.d. alone .... that there is likely a cocktail of mi's going on in there.

I think empathy and compassion is all anyone can offer in this circumstance .... just waiting for the tide to turn .... and it's taking a bl##dy long time .....

Yep, prayer and more prayer ....

And beautiful forum friends holding my hand ....

❤️💕💐
