Ok I have tried to find your travels @Faith-and-Hope but Im conceding defeat! You do realise there are over 100 pages here don't you? Oh.. just scroll back and skim? Listen lady!! I'm here to tell you that ain't easy!! 😛
So... I hereby concede defeat on the wrestle with the posts. What I will do is say, I do see you had biscuits in Greece. Though I'm sure in the 92 pages I haven't perused, I'd find many more morsels 🙂
So I'll tell you some of my travel highlights and you can then reciprocate as you see best, how about that?
My travels have been somewhat adventurous in nature. Mostly independent but never alone. I've backpacked mainly and spent a number of years in Papua New Guinea.
I've spent 6 months rampaging around East Africa, 3 months hitching in Turkey, Syria and a quick visit to Petra, in Jordan.
I was kidnapped in Turkey by the PKK, but they let myself and two other Aussies I was with go, because we made friends with them and showed them pictures of kangaroos. Others weren't so lucky.
Syria, well that was a whole other story, madness probably would best describe what happened there. But it was the most amazing place and experience, like I had somehow crawled into my tv set and was participating in the scenes when I shouldn't have been It's very sad to me what is going on there now.
I almost got drowned white water rafting on the Zambezi at Victoria falls. Were it not for the fact I used to swim competetively and managed to knee my petrified would be drowner in the groin area just as I was about to pass out, I wouldn't have survived to, years later, have the traumatic experience that lead me here.
I've stayed months at a time in bamboo bungalows across northern and southern Thailand. I learnt to cook Thai in a remote northern village where farang (foreigners) were not even supposed to know what to do with the cooking utensils I brought; and made a "kitchen" for outside my bungalow. (With the owners permission of course). So amazed and intrigued were the inhabitants of the village, one so transfixed watching me shop. ran his bicycle off the road and down into an overgrown gully. Much to the amusement of many other onlookers.
Ive been to NZ, Fiji and probably more. But for now there's an excerpt for you to get a feel of my travel experience.
Do tell me some of your besties. I love travel stories.
🙂
