Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

I am around @Teej. I'm not sure what brain I am in now 😏😐

What's going on for you? I suck with values conflicts. I usually get all messed up and twisted. I can listen though

I don't know if I can help at all, but I can certainly listen @Teej

Re: Just checking in.

I am struggling with having the same advice on something from all quarters but not being able to feel what is right. It’s about trust (if there should be trust) and the gut feeling being different. I know I can’t trust that this feeling is right either. It’s about the process I am going through currently and feeling conflicted with some of it. @CheerBear . That is vague and I’m not sure if anyone can make sense of it. It’s also about my extreme sensitivity to hurting someone (which always is intense for me). Even if they have hurt me I don’t want others hurt by me. I know this is kind of crazy.

Thanks @Sans911 . I’m not sure anyone can. I think maybe most would find it hard to put themselves in my shoes for this. It is one of my quirks and kind of a strength/weakness thing.

Re: Just checking in.

I think that's part of why I am not a fan of advice @Teej because the noise of it can really make it hard to hear and listen to what my gut says. When my gut is already tricky to hear or make sense of, for me it can get all kinds of jumbly. Trust I think is also incredibly tricky. I struggle to trust others and myself. I can feel very pulled around when things seem to clash, like values, advice, opinions, intuition etc.

I don't think I'll be able to help you with this, but I can empathise hugely with the chaos that being in the situation you are, can cause. And I want you to know you're not crazy because you don't want someone to be hurt by you, even if they have hurt you. That's kind, compassionate, considerate, thoughful. Not crazy.

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks @CheerBear for listening. Perhaps it will be ok eventually. I don’t try to be this way but I just am for whatever reason. Sometimes it must sound so cocky and altruistic but it’s not meant that way at all. I’m having lots of questioning about myself.

I think it might be time for both of us to sleep. I have a big day tomorrow and will need to somehow park it up for the next 36 hours. I hope you sleep better tonight.

💜🤗

It doesn't come across as cocky to me @Teej. It comes across as something that is a source of struggle for you sometimes but is also something that I think probably comes from an incredibly kind person. I can see how twisted it would get.

I hope the appointment goes OK tomorrow (I think you have one on from banana brain memory this morning). I also hope there is some peace or settled-ness in there for you soon.

Night ❤

Re: Just checking in.

Thank you so much for helping me calm my farm last night @CheerBear , @Sans911 .

Ive just returned from my appointment, where I was shaking and thinking over and over 'please don’t be rejected, please don’t be rejected'. I was, I need to lose weight but was given the all clear if I can lose 10kg.....in 3 months 😮. I’m surprisingly ok with it. It’s probably not the worst thing that could have happened. I see my GP tomorrow and I hope we can sort out a plan. The whole packet of kingston biscuits I ate last night (emotional eating) probably didn’t help and possibly resulted in growing more teeth and hair 😜. That appointment is next week.

In relation to the stuff from last night that has come to bite me this morning. I will need to work through it and find a way where I can sit with it without torturing me. I have no clue what that looks like or will be yet.

Hoping your day is ok. 💜🤗

Re: Just checking in.

Well done on getting to your appointment @Teej, even though it was hard to do. Hopefully your GP will help you find a manageable way to do what you need to get to where you want 🙂

Maybe once some of the really tricky, pulling-at-your-emotions stuff is over, the temptation to do the emotional eating thing, will be less.

I was thinking a bit about the values conflict you touched on last night (because it really is a big one for me and often behind my distress) and wondering whether you've ever used a values identification worksheet or something like it? I remember finding it easier to work through something tricky just after I completed one of them. It kind of helped me to see what really mattered to me which helped guide me in a right-for-me direction. Just an idea 🙂

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks @CheerBear .

I think that values conflicts cause my biggest distress. Everything has felt so whirlwind that I’ve felt out of control quite often lately.

Maybe it is a good idea for me to write it down. Have you got a good one you could share? Not the one you did 😳 but a site you got yours from. I’m not sure if that is ok to share resources @Former-Member , @Former-Member . I’ve not done it before that I can remember.
