Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

That's super frustrating @eth. Does the post disappear completely for you? When I type a word that's filtered out I get a highlighter error with the word, but the post is still there for me to edit. It's been a while since I've done that though so maybe it has changed.

Re: Just checking in.

@CheerBear I am getting the highlighted error response but my post does not contain the word it says to change. I've tried changing a few other words but to no avail. It happened a couple of days ago too and even Nashy couldn't see why when I emailed SANE team a copy of what I was trying to post. I have done so again this morning. I feel demoralised by having the problem only when I post about what's happening for me, not when I post responses to others' sharing.

Re: Just checking in.

I can see how that would feel really horrible when it happens only when you post about your stuff and in what sounds like a really unclear way @eth. I think I'd find that hard to cope with too. Sorry to hear 🙁

Re: Just checking in.

Morning @CheerBear , @eth , @frog , @Sans911 , @outlander and anyone else passing through.

im so glad you got to post a long post back to Silenus @eth . It was very appropriate to post it here, in fact I may have been annoyed if you didn’t 😜😘.

@eth I’m wondering if the post warning you are getting says you mention a word starting with l that is a med. it used to happen to me all the time even though I never used that word. It might be different but I thought I’d let you know that it has been a glitch in the past and nothing to do with you or your posts.

@Sans911 Go you for getting out there but I’m sorry it didn’t work out. I’m hoping there were still moments of mindfulness. From memory you often have a busy Saturday (scratching her head wondering if that is true) which I hope is lovely.

@CheerBear Sorry I dropped out last night. I’m so glad fish are better and a middle is doing ok with removable cast. Mine had one of them for his broken thumb. That was the time we had the very lovely understanding paediatric, orthopaedic doctor who said to him that 'if he found himself on a soccer pitch and not in goals he might be ok if he had his cast on with a glove on top”. She went on to say that being on a footy field or basketball court would not be ok. That was a life saver I can tell you. Hmm taking fish to somewhere that you know will be hard sucks just quietly. You help me relive those days in a good way.

@outlander I hope your day is ok and that pop came home ok last night. You made me giggle about the bubble wrap. Maybe I should give that to one of mine 😉.

@frog I might op over to the daily goals next. Sorry you’ve had a blegh week. That would some up mine.

Re: Just checking in.

Hey @Teej my blocked post had nothing at all to do with meds. It was about what I've been doing this week, an important meeting with my coordinator of supports, getting ready for my NDIS yearly review, and new boots I invested in this week (detail about foot problems). @CheerBear this is as much as I can say to answer your enquiry about how I'm going. Don't have the energy to type it all again.

Re: Just checking in.

Sorry @eth . I mis communicated that. I know your post had nothing to do with meds. I used to have mine blocked because it said I’d used a word that I hadn’t. I could have written about the autumn leaves or how my dog chased his stick and it could block my post. I very much understand your frustration. Let’s hope it can be resolved. 🤞🏻🙏

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks @Teej . Nashy suggested the other day that the system was reading the word for my shoe inserts as O.D. but I changed that and it still wouldn't post. Same thing today. Bizarre. Not sure why it upsets me so much but it does.

Hang in there @eth . I get that it feels personal and that frustration level. 💜🤗

Re: Just checking in.

I was feeling shaky yesterday with something big that's tugging at my insides and that I'm struggling with. I don't know who I can talk it through with who might give me the response I need so I'm sitting with it, feeling like it is quietly eating me. I pulled myself out of the hole I was in trying so hard to focus on the good and the happy. Then late last night I did something very silly (granted there felt like a good safety related reason for it) and I went looking online to find the person who has done massive damage, to try and see where he is at. What I found were pictures of the happiest looking him I had ever seen, doing amazing, fun, exciting things. I saw incredible travel adventures all over the world, happy couple house renovations on what used to be my house too, and Christmas with "loved ones".

I felt so sick. I was looking at something I couldn't comprehend at all. I shouldn't have done what I did but I found myself caught in a huge, sinking trap of it that felt inescapable. A pang of 'this stings' turned into the kind of emotional storm that felt like it threatened to suck the air completely out of me. I was smashed with memories of awful times and of incredible fear that has almost broken me. I wondered what was wrong with us that we deserved what happened, why we weren't enough and why he had to take it out on us. I felt so mad at myself and at the world. I hate that I struggle so much at times to get through the week (through the day sometimes), and that things that used to be easy are so not. I hated that his life seems so carefree. It doesn't seem fair. I was angry at myself for still not being over it. When I finally went to sleep I had the most disturbing, vivid dreams of kids and me in the firing line of anger and hatred. I have woken up feeling like I spent the evening at war with myself.
I'm feeling fragile and sensitive at the moment. I think I wanted to share that with someone (anyone). I worry that I can't process stuff without it being too much to handle, so I'm shoving things down as far as I can, trying desperately to ignore them and shut them out. I can find things to laugh about and that make me feel good, but they don't seem as real as they usually would. They're clouded by ugly, twisty darkness that's nagging at me to attend to it and that isn't going away. I know I'm a bit all over the place right now, but I think that's why.
Now I have vented, I will put on my happy face again and get ready for a fundraising BBQ that is not at all what I feel like doing today. I'm super tired this morning 🙁

Re: Just checking in.

Hello @CheerBear I'm hearing you. What an awful night for you. It's no wonder you're exhausted today. I've been through DV and you can talk about it with me if you want to. No. 1 : it was not your fault. You no way deserved it.

Such a roller coaster of emotions and feelings that rears its ugly head sometimes with no warning. I did a course for women who've been through it in 2017 and it really helped. Especially with self-forgiveness. I would hope my experience can in some way help you at this time. Do you have a local womens centre? They have a lot of resources for rebuilding your life and recovery.

Sending lots of love. Your resilience and ability to 'put on your happy face' for your kids is amazing to me.

Here when and how you want.

Eth xx
