Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks again @Former-Member,

it does make sense and I will try. The only problem I see with it is when the tide rolls in then what? Sometimes it's a king tide. Please don't feel like you need to answer that. I have some things I have to do today starting in the next hour - mindfulness class is the first so I guess I'm off to a good start. I'll set my expectation today for trying to be in the moment and not get taken down. 💜🤗

Glad you are steady at the moment @Former-Member

Isnt @Kurra an amazing testament to resilience and overcoming obstacles .. and she can wear tough work boots and be a fine nuanced sensitive musical spirit too ... We do need you here, regardless of work outcomes. Bella.

Re: Just checking in.

Hi @Former-Member

I read you message about not going to Christmas at your partner's family's place nor your own - I gave it a "like" I think but I couldn't find it again

If you have to do all the driving then that is a good idea - it's the wrong time of year to take the risk that other people will behave on the road

It's okay for people if it's okay for people - but as a believer in the reason for the season I often find the ho ho ho overdone - as if there is some kind of rule that this is the reason to be jolly and for many people this is not the case. If it is too much for you to spend time with family - his or yours - then take that time for yourself

Sometimes in life we have to "fake it" but that is not at all the way to live - still whatever else happens - it really concerns me that you would be driving so much through silly season traffic when you are not all that well

I could not find your message but whatever - you need to take care of yourself - Christmas is a hard time for many of us here - so you are not alone in that

Lots of virtual hugs

Decadian

Re: Just checking in.

Thank u @Decadian...it's really nice to have so much support here. I often wonder why in real I'm expected to just do...this never ending super woman act. I had thought my tummy bug was leaving but not so...Damm!
My eldest has a friend over and we walked to local school to shoot hoops. It was really nice to just soak in the air and listen to the boys talk about their peers. My son has had a mixed bag of friends but seems to be choosing more friendlier folk of late! He will always attract the trouble makers, but I can see he now has grown more confidence too.

I'm really traveling a day by day basis of this week. I sent my mum a message but I still feel hostile attitude. She plans to drive 3 hr turn around trip to bring boys the presents she has. I can't help but feel it's a you are putting me out scenario but I'm not going to take that on. It isn't fair any longer. I'm not a child.

Thank you @Former-Member also your kind words. If I do attend partner parents I thought I may even pull back and retreat outside to capture quiet moments. Or if need be just head home, say I'm unwell, which at present is not un-true. I'm usually caught out in the thick of it then manage to feel stuck. I'm aware I do this, so here is to note...I'll give it my best shot!
As I watched Jamie Oliver Christmas special it was so funny. He was working co side along an Italian chef, both slowly getting sloshed!
But it looked so fun. Just two mates enjoying a laugh with good food n wine.
I said to my partner we should do that..cook up a storm to indulge in. 😀
But I know it won't happen, so I'm trying to.make most of small things.
Seeing my boys happy makes me happy.

Hi @Former-Member, @TAB....green coconut tea?
Coffee isn't kind of working in my favor as much as I've tried !!
Hopefully bug is gone tomorrow 😉

Re: Just checking in.

What your mum does is up to her. Does all sound oneway traffic so to speak tho. Try the group as suggested if you are up to it.. nothing to lose.. and why couldn't you do the sloshy food thing with your 'mate'? Sounds like a lucky man .. green coconut whatthe? Ok never tried.. coffee not working here so changed homemade iced coffee with vanilla essence yum 😀

Re: Just checking in.

Shooting hoops brings back memories of playing with my biological daughter .. thanks for that @Former-Member I need all the healing I can get on that score.

super mum .. hey .. I hear you

Older mums .. dont realise all the added expectations upon mums these days .. they often dont seem to see their daughters .. stretching ... apart .. meeting all the needs & requirements placed upon us.

cheers

Glad you are still with us. @Former-Member
