Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Oh I know the forum flip out feels well myself @Teej 😏😖

You definitely deserve the space to write here though I get how it can feel wrong too. When I'm potentially explosive it helps me to vent. Sense or no sense making, I am listening if you'd like to spill.

Did something happen today?

Re: Just checking in.

Yes and no with did something happen today @CheerBear. I have some stuff that I guess wound me up from staying one night at my parents. I think that is probably most of it. I think I was also on a 'false high' yesterday and today the crash came early but I fought so hard to keep it at bay. Now I’m home alone the events of the last 24 hours are going around and around in my brain and I’m trying to distract but it’s not happening so well.

Re: Just checking in.

Do you do the forum flip outs too @CheerBear? I thought it was just me.

Re: Just checking in.

That crash sucks @Teej 😏 I think it sucks more after a nice high too. It feels bigger and harder sometimes.

Very much yes I flip and flip well. Lots of times I want to write and don't or do and want to take it back. That's part of the flip out feels to me!

I wonder how you go with staying at your parents. I think I've asked you before but maybe in relation to staying at Christmas from memory (which could be a whole different circus in my life!).

Jumping on and chatting here is a good distraction. Points for that maybe? 😘

Re: Just checking in.

My family is complex @CheerBear. There is a lot of things said and done for appearances. There are some things that were said and done that perhaps I am overly sensitive to. I’ve tried to write the next bit a few times but can’t find the words. I think the long and the short of it is that I am loved unconditionally which I now understand and appreciate but so much stuff is done and said that is really contradictory and makes me leave feeling not good enough. It’s hard to explain.

Today I met the new friend for the first time for coffee and it went well but then I overanalysed it and am confused again and scared about it and I don’t understand why.......and I’m such a why person 🤦‍♀️

Re: Just checking in.

That's complex and would be difficult to understand and make sense of in some ways @Teej, especially to a why person. I'm sorry to hear you leave feeling not good enough. Those feelings are very ouch 😔 Do they understand where you're at and what goes on for you?

That's really great that you went to meet new friend today. From memory only recently you said you didn't want to/couldn't so I'd take that as points and a win too. I think sometimes we can fall into a huge trap overthinking and over analysing where one little thing that maybe wasn't even a thing can suddenly feel like a huge thing and huge things are scary. New things are often scary anyway, without the analysing.

Re: Just checking in.

They try @CheerBear but miss the mark with so many things. I never understood how judgemental and negative they are until fairly recently. Today I had to cut off conversations constantly because of the negativity about other people. One of them in particular missed out on learning one of the big parts of empathy - being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. There is much they can’t comprehend about that because the need to be better than everyone else is more important. They are not narcissistic but more need to feel important. There is also lots of things quite familiar to their generation about being stoic and strong. There was no way I could share about the friend today with my parents. They would have judged and disapproved of her.

I really wanted to work with my psychiatrist on the friendship and relationship stuff but the Centrelink bus put the brakes on that for at least another month so I guess it will be rattling around in my brain for a while.

Re: Just checking in.

Sorry that my brain is going so slow @CheerBear and so are my responses. I’m hoping that my brain kicks in again tomorrow cos I really need it.

want to know of my stupidly goosey thing I did today? I think I’ve mentioned that I have guttate psoriasis before. There are probably 50ish spots on the bottom of both legs. I haven’t shaved my legs for weeks because I was scared of creating more damage. In my not thinking phase today I shaved them this morning only to look down and see half of them ble-eding 😏. I tried really carefully with the second leg but to no better result. It didn’t bother me and wasn’t painful at all. When I got home from coffee with new friend I looked down to see lots of little bl-ood trails down both legs. I looked like Norman Gunston shaving on steroids. I could have had about 30 or more shaving band aids on my legs. Anyway lesson learned the hard way. No shaving for me! Hairy spotty legs for a while longer. It seriously looked soooo much worse than it was :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Re: Just checking in.

Sorry @Teej, drifted off then woke with a drowning in a puddle of sweat feelings. The house is waiting to catch up with the outside world with temps.

That need to appear one way and the judgment and negativity from people important to you who mean q lot to you, can really hurt. I think when I hear negativity like that I wonder 'if you think that about them, what do you really think about me' which can cause lots of self-doubt and uncertainty (then angry for me). I hate that the c-link bus has put all of the working through this stuff to the side for you 😔

Oh no with your legs and the goose moment! That sucks too, though I have a kind of funny image in my head of your legs! (That sounds weirder than I mean jt!)

I'm about to fall asleep I think so I'll log off. Talk about slow brain and responses - I'll wear that crown tonight after this reply that's taken forever and maybe doesn't even make sense or have anything in it sorry! (See we really aren't alone in our funny forum-ness). As always theres lots of love being sent to you.

I hope brain works tomorrow and that there's nothing too big or scary or overwhelming on that you need it to work for.

❤👋😘
