I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.
Teej thanks so much for your thoughts and your support. It means heaps. I still have one day until I see my GP and have some much needed alone time today, but with that almost instantly came an overwhelming sense of being seriously stuck and like there is no way out. I can't stop thinking. I can't stop wanting to believe that maybe I'm just seeing things or feeling things that aren't real. It's so ridiculous. I can't see how I can make a decision with this one that will be at all OK with me. My go-to avoidance is definitely not going to work here.
My heart hurts badly and I hate myself for putting myself in this dilemma. I feel full of regret over the choice I made getting carried away in a moment that led to this and that I think will now live with me in some way forever. I'm so angry with myself and I can't see that going away for a long time.
So much questioning what I have done and what I'm going to do. I'm worried that I am not going to be able to live with myself if I make the wrong choice, but I am worried that no matter what I do nothing can or will be right 😔

Feeling for you so very much @CheerBear Some decisions we have to make in life are difficult either way - it is no wonder you feel stuck right now - you are going through so much CB Whatever decision you make with have lasting implications either way but you are the best one to know what you can deal with here Hon and it is ultimately your decision. None of this is easy but we are here with you in whatever direction you take CB

Re: Just checking in.
@CheerBear I’ve been talking in therapy lots about a very big decision I made years ago that I’ve regretted. I’ve been reassured lots that the decision I made was made with the best intentions and was the best decision at that time. I think that is all you can go by now. The decision you make is the right one for you now. As I’ve learned the hard way regretting those decisions doesn’t make anything better. You are so good at getting on with it once you’ve made a decision. I think this will be no different what you decide.
I miscarried one of mine after jinxing myself. The day before I had said that technically my odds of that one were low knowing that 1 in 4 pregnancies miscarry. (And nope I don’t suggest that as an option for you 😘) We has just told everyone as well. I know it’s different but for a while I was hooked into wondering if that was my girl. I think regret is something that we all have but indulging in it isn’t healthy. Maybe you can make the choice that whatever you decide was the best decision you could make at the time. It also doesn’t mean that you would make the same decision next time if it happened. I recently saw someone for pro choice talk about her experiences. She had had a mix of both experiences, keeping and not keeping. I believe that it doesn’t have to be black and white.
Im not saying this is easy or not so very fueled with emotion but you can do this. What ever you decide you have a huge support team here and I suspect irl as much as possible too. Trust yourself. There will be a right decision for you just now and that will be the one you make. It can’t be wrong or wrapped up in the future. Can you do a weighted pros and cons (like the one in the DBT manual)? Just writing it on paper might help you to bring you to the present without beating yourself up. Sorry for fix it brain.
PS if you just need someone to sit with you through this I can do that too. Please tell us if that is more helpful 💜

Re: Just checking in.
PPS @CheerBear I have a doc appointment in an hour followed by seeing my therapist and some food shopping so I’ll be in and out for a bit.

Re: Just checking in.
@CheerBear Found these for you
The bottom one kind of spoke to me. There is a whole life ahead. Chaos is part of our life, even when we have something to do with creating it. You can remind me of this I’m sure in the future. 😘

Re: Just checking in.
Zoe7 and Teej thank you both lots. I'm so jumbled up today and struggling heaps. Your suggestions are great Teej and actually writing my pros and cons down, rather than letting them go round and round is a good idea.
I'm so sorry to hear you had that experience Teej. I can only imagine the range of emotions a miscarriage might bring. I have 1 in 4 in my mind, for reasons that make me feel like a truly horrible human. I hate me today.
I briefly saw the other person involved in this today. He is not someone I want to do this with. Only recently I told him that I couldn't give him the level of commitment he wanted and that I didn't have it in me to take on his stuff too. Then days later, this 😑 I don't think he is someone I want to be with, or be connected with, forever. I know what it is like to share a child with the wrong person. For all the lessons I clearly havent learned yet, I have at least learned this one.
I know my mental health would be challenged with this and I've worked so hard for a long time to get to a place that feels as close to stable as I have felt for ages. I don't want to compromise that. Even monthly hormones push me every time and I'm feeling shaky with it already. This would be like that times a million.
Then there is the enormous consideration of how I could manage an even larger little crew. I loved them being little but I am so glad we are past the tiny stage and that they're all reaching more independent ages. While I do manage the demands of parenting, it is a big stretch. Some days it feels too much and some days I want out. I worry that if it can be a struggle now, it would be even more of a struggle soon. Continuing this would impact my family hugely. Not continuing it would only impact me.
But in the back of my mind is the knowledge that I have risen to the challenge of having children every time. I wouldn't change them for the world and I have absolutely no regret when it comes to the choices I made to have them all. Deep inside I know this would be no different. I can't see how I could live with myself if I brought it to an end.
I went out yesterday and all I seemed to see around me were beautiful big bellies and tiny humans. I walked past the baby section of a shop (unintentionally) and saw mini socks and smelled the amazing smell of baby powder. I saw all kinds of things that reminded me of the most true, most strong, most real loves of my life. I was flooded with memories of lying next to my tiny, squeaky creatures, each that came into my life during a time that was so far from ideal. I remember feelings I have had holding them, and how nothing in the world seems to matter at times, but them. I have always felt that as long as we were together, healthy and safe, we would be OK.
Tomorrow at my appointment I will see if it is actually happening, though the now five tests I have done (none which have at all been even a tiny bit doubtful looking, but still I crossed my fingers each time 😏) make me think I'm not going to be in for any surprises. I'm thinking she will probably send me off for an ultrasound which will feel impossible to do, and it will start seeming very real, very quickly. I really don't want that to happen. At least now I can kind of live in and escape to lala denial land, even if I'm only kidding myself.
This feels like one of the biggest heart vs brain battles I have ever had 😔
So sorry for the giant spill. I'm going to go and try to do something distracting now. Thank you heaps for the listening eyes, the non-judgment, and the very meaningful support ❤

Re: Just checking in.
Just like @Teej said @CheerBear we are here for you for whatever you need both through all this and as ongoing support. This is indeed one of the hardest things you or anyone has to decide and therefore know that our support for you is unwavering. There are no real words that can help ease this kind of pain for you as it is a decision you have to make knowing there will be repercussions for you on both sides - that is so very hard to deal with. If you need to keep talking then do so and if you need us to sit quietly with you then say - you are who matters right now Hon and we will follow your lead throughout this with you and for you 💜💙💚🧡💛

Re: Just checking in.
@CheerBear I hope you managed to distract and have some down time this afternoon.
I totally understand how hard this is given everything you’ve written. I’m not going to take you back down that track again tonight (unless it’s helpful for you) but I wanted to acknowledge what you wrote. So many big feels there. Will be around tomorrow if you need to talk.
Changing the subject to leave my post on a less heavy note for @CheerBear. I’ve had a full on day where everything didnt go to plan but it’s ok. By the time I got to my therapist I was completely blank and very very scattered. Couldn’t string two words together 😳:face_with_rolling_eyes:. I’ve had an upset tummy for a couple of weeks now. It’s not happy with the iron tablets but instead of constipation I have the other side of things, and I’m not able to keep food in my system, and when it leaves it’s green 🤦♀️. @Mazarita I’ve been thinking about you for the last few weeks knowing how frustrating it must be at times. Today I broke wind (and thank goodness that’s all it was) in the shop and pretty much cleared out the shop. I had to get out of there so quick 😳😳😳. One of my favourite movie quotes of all times is from the castle when they win the court case and he turns and says 'suffer in your jocks'. It’s always felt like the best saying without being really nasty. I think that’s been me a bit. I’m now off iron tablets and I hope there is less jock suffering to be had😜. My fave quote kind of shows what a dag I really am 😝.
