Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Just checking in folks, I'm in hospital now and have already managed to complete the mental health subject (I had one tricky question about intervention) for my course. I am flying through assessments like a crazy woman! I haven't slept in two days so I think I might be headed towards mania yet again. Thank goodness I am where I am! I am missing home however, as I am not get many visitors and phone calls/texts are few and far between but that's okay I guess. I learned in therapy about the empowerment triangle and how playing a victim and having a rescuer in our lives only enables negativity and poor choices in life. I have to basically learn my illness is what it is, I should stop fighting it and practice acceptance and focus on strengths I do have. Anyhoo, that's all for now. Back to assignments amid all the medication I am currently taking at the moment to calm me down lol!

It’s really good to read your check ins @Queenie. I’m glad you are in hospital but it’s inspiring to read that you are learning new things and accomplishing things too.

Wishing you all the best while you are there (and it’s always good reading updates).

Hi @CheerBear and any others passing through. I’ve been through more periods of distress as usual. Emotions and everything way out of control again :face_with_rolling_eyes:😬😖. Today I have woken up a new person again. Lots and nothing has happened this week (I know that doesn’t make sense but it’s how I usually feel reflecting on a week).

Kids finished exams, huge relief but also bought some intense emotions. Over the last few weeks I’ve been holding on until the uni year is finished. Yesterday when it was over the urges to suicide we’re really high, it felt like there was nothing to hold on for. At one stage I actually considered that I might need to go to ED to stay safe but I got through hour by hour and then took meds to sleep. Today I’m ok and it’s all passed 😅.

On Wednesday I had conversations with the people from the programs I was cut from. They have decided I can do one more term next year after speaking to psychiatrist. I’m feeling that the psychiatrist told the truth and that she has my back.

Yesterday i I saw my old therapist not knowing how I’d go. I cried again for the hour. I think all the things that were underlying stresses came out. Finances being the big one. One of the things that’s been hard for me in the last few weeks was that this is the first Christmas in 7 years that I actually considered trying to do the Christmas thing, put a Christmas tree up and get organised and be positive about Christmas. Every year since d day I’ve fallen over and ended up in hospital. This year it felt like I could manage it but I’ve taken a hit. My finances are a mess. I don’t know how I’m going to buy presents or food or any of it. My therapist is giving me her fathers Christmas tree 🎄 and told me we’d work through it. I think the hardest part is actually not being able to buy presents. I’ve never been in this situation before. I have ideas for all of them but not the means. Anyway that’s my whinge. The emotions are much more under control over it now and it did help to talk to my therapist about it, although at the time it didn’t feel like it. It was on the bus going home I was seriously was going through my s plan and how I would pull it off last night. Today I feel like a different person.

So so sorry for the heavy and deep. It’s why I stayed away forum, although came very close to being on the forum in crisis 😳😖.

Today ive been going through my bedroom trying to sort and clean it. It’s the first time the blinds have been up for weeks and probably the first time in more than 6 months the windows have been open. 😯. Sheets and quilt are washed and mattress turned so feeling a sense of accomplishment too. Have been putting winter clothes away for the season as well as a thourough clean which is well overdue.

Would love to hear how you (and anyone else) are travelling.

Onwards and upwards 💜🤗😘

Hey @Teej. So enjoy seeing you around 🙂 Lots of feels reading your post. So, so great that you made it through those intense feelings and thoughts. I understand the crash that happened post exams for you. The post hectic, busy, important stuff happening time has been a time of risk for me in the past too, and will probably continue to be a time I need to watch for. Glad today is OK. Also glad your psych has your back. Always a good thing 👍

I love that your therapist has a tree for you, and that you have been trying to push yourself to do the Christmas thing, though sad to hear it is a difficult, stressful one for you to be thinking of. I'm not loving the idea of Christmas this year either (to the point where I've tried to avoid the shops with all their baubles and lights up) though I probably say that most years. It's stress and money and busy and can be so over the top. But is fun and exciting and joyful too. It's all the emotions. As a feeler, all the emotions isn't the best mix 😏 It's good that you have someone to work it through with.

Big go you with what you've managed today 🙂! Today was a good day for me too. I did a school thing this morning, had a helpful appointment with my MH worker, worked out some NDIS goals for my planning meeting (reeeeally struggled with that but got there), and spent time with my yarn. Some stress happening this afternoon with parents, but nothing unusual there really. I'm trying really hard but kind of failing to recognise/respect my limits sometimes. There is only so much I can do and I have to be OK with that, which sucks and I find tricky. Owning a fix-it brain is annoying sometimes!

Hoping your evening is a calm and good one. Big hugs and lots of these ❤❤❤
