From what I understand @Sans911, the start of changing a behaviour is realising it in hindsight, usually when someone else has pointed it out to you, which is what I am hearing you say I think. Its the same process we go through when we are younger, and our support people (parents, friends, guardians, whoever) point things out to us ..... trauma can cause us to go back to earlier patterns and need to move forward from that place again .... but it is a pattern or reaction that is a normal human response.
Gradually the impulse to recognise either in the moment, or soon after, what we are doing or have done, and do a double-back with appologies and wanting to fix it is part of the process of starting to catch it and modify the behaviour.
I am sorry you are feeling so sad about it tonight .... I am hearing steps of progress that perhaps you are not recognising or feeling at this time, and that is when a sense of hopelessness tends to flood in ....
Your feelings are legitimate, and they matter, because you matter .... and nobody has it perfect .... there is no such thing as perfect .... we are all on a growth spectrum, and there are so many things that influence that ....
Take courage ..... imperfections are considered weaknesses under some circumstances, but the exact same things present as strengths under others. Vulnerability is both necessary and a strength ..... it just feels really sucky sometimes.
