Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

I think broken sleep is the worst @Mazarita, especially if you can sleep. If you can't, well that's different! Ah yes chores seem un-exciting, but in one sense I find it calming to slow my pace down. I have a busy week ahead, including a psychiatrist. I'm not sure how I feel on that one. 😊
A beach walk sounds perfect. ❤🌊🌀💦

Re: Just checking in.

@Former-Member, yeah, went to bed at 9pm, woke around midnight. Awake until about 4am. Awake again at 6am. Have stayed up since then. But breakfast has just made me feel a bit more human. 🙂 Best wishes with the psychiatrist. It sounds like a first appointment? I've been seeing psychiatrists for about 25 years. I like them for the most part and have found them helpful.

Re: Just checking in.

@Mazarita yes it's a first visit to this lady. I've seen one before a few years ago now.
He trialled me on a heap of anti depressants at the time, some were not the go.
I remember one afternoon falling asleep with S2 and slept through picking my eldest from school. He was only in prep. My phone was on silent and my mum was called to drive over 40min to pick him up.
We no longer live there but I do remember feeling 'I was dubbed as 'one of those mums' ...totally untrue, but none the less, that script wasn't for me!! Lol
Yar, food is thy healer 😊
I've been for most part feeling on top of things, have a few cycle bits but I think it's my normal.
I don't know why I'm going, my psychologist feels abandonment schemas mixed with previous domestic violence trauma results in my high anxiety. I've worked a long road out of problems, but I think when new issues sting my reaction is stronger.
No matter!

Re: Just checking in.

@Former-Member, how awful for you, with your prep school son. I can understand your embarrassment. Cool that you don't have to worry about that past mishap any more, since you left the place. 🙂 When you say 'a few cycle bits', do you mean bipolar cycling? I ask because I have bipolar and I think 'mixed state' is my normal. That's a lot better than where I've been in the past though, hence my gratitude to my psychiatrists for both the medications, and the good counselling I've received from them too. I've never done schema therapy or narrative therapy. I don't have a great track record with psychologists, oddly enough. I'm sure they have helped me to some extent though. Every little bit adds up.

Re: Just checking in.

Hi @Former-Member.
How are you going?
I'm ok today, a bit tired but woke up and my mood was ok for he second day straight which I am grateful for. I did not get as much sleep as I needed but will push in as it's my sons birthday.
I'm not really sure what else to write. How has your week gone?

Re: Just checking in.

Hiya @Mazarita 👋 Hiya @Former-Member 👋

I hope the psychiatrist helps @Former-Member. It seems like the schema therapy is helping. It still makes sense to me. I'm a bit stuck at the moment in therapy but understand why. I know it will get back on track again soon.

I hope you both have a good day. I'm just dropping in quickly for a few posts and then I'm going to TRY to have a quiet day on the forum and do some things. 💜🤗

Hiya too @eth if you are around. I hope your week has gone ok. I've had another really hard one but things are looking a bit brighter for now. I'd love to hear how you are going too. Sending hugs 💜🤗

Re: Just checking in.

Hi @Former-Member

I have been going not too bad for the last few days as I have managed to form better sleeping patterns (going to sleep and getting up the same time each day/night). Has made be feel better physically and able to cope even better.

My daughter has improved slightly and does try to be nice to us but still struggles with mood swings and self destructive behaviours which can cause grief. I do have to distance myself emotionally now from her (so she doesn't do my head in), which enables me to have a life also - but at the same time I am there for her and show affection if she needs me (and still cook and wash clothes etc for her). So she has it pretty good.

Great to read that you have been waking up feeling better for two straight days - things are really up for you now. With working/studying towards a future job that you would enjoy offering a better future is the boost you needed. The future is looking good for you my friend and I just know you will succeed. But yes, all the load you are under would make you tired understandably. I hope you managed to enjoy your son's birthday and that you are now putting up your feet relaxing. All the hard work will pay off my friend - there is much to look forward to for you and you so deserve it 💕🌹xx

Re: Just checking in.

It's lovely to hear that things are still going forwards. It appears that perhaps you are all finding ways to deal with things @Former-Member 😊 It's fabulous that your sleeping habits are improving.

We had one of the most connected times we've had for years tonight for my sons birthday and I'm feeling content. My boys although very different all get along very well for now. I managed to live in the moment and take it in, it was actually a bit like a zoo and very amusing.

I hope you have another good week with your daughter and the universe is kind to you. Will catch up again soon. Take care of you. Sending hugs 💜🤗💐
