Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Hi @Former-Member,
I'm going well. My fitness levels are returning and I've managed to keep my stress levels well balanced. Walking has helped keep my stress levels down but I've also tended to stamp firmly on the very beginnings of worry and frustration so there's less risk of either getting out of control.

Dog is fit and healthy once more. We didn't go ahead with the exploratory surgery. She's 112 in human years and has a good quality of life.

I have taken an extra day of leave so I'll be returning to work 30 Jan.
Hang in there. A new psych registrar could be a real positive for you.

It's great to hear you've had a good day @Queenie.

Luv n Hugzzz to you both. 🎶💕

So glad dog is doing better @Kurra and that you are getting fitter again. It's good you have a bit more time to get yourself sorted and healthier too. Crossing fingers for when you go back. 💜🤗 cheers for checking in 😊

Re: Just checking in.

@Former-Member. I think it sounds like DBT could do you some good. It would help with reducing the urge to SH. And that would be fantastic. I think it would also help with making you feel life is worth living.
So maybe stay on the list and see how you feel in April. Hopefully the timing will be perfect for you then.
No psych worker is worth dying for. Ever. I'd want to live - just to prove to them that I'm better than they think.
But I totally understand how people can treat us as our disease/disorder & they forget we are real people first.
Empathy and respect shouldn't be that hard for them. We deserve at least that.
I'm so glad we managed to catch up tonight. It's been a long time.
But I'm heading to bed and will do my meditation there and hopefully fall asleep quickly.
Sending you best wishes.

Hi @Former-Member

How are you?

Re: Just checking in.

Hi @Former-Member

I don't know what DBT is - but I guess I can look it up

I know you SHd a couple of times after certain therapy - maybe more times - I don't know but it occurs to me that if this is happening rather than give you black marks it's better to try and work out something else for you - and find out what is really happening with you

I know you are battling but don't give up even when you feel like it - this sounds like real courage to me - I wonder if I have had that much courage - I don't think I could SH - but maybe I have never seen the point - I have an attitude - (some years back it was a bad thing to at attitude but now it's a good thing) - yes - my attitude - I would not give my mother or TS the satisfaction of doing that - I would never let them know how badly they have hurt me - that is in the past now though TS is still at it - but she is not going to win her strange sibling rivalry

However - in the past I could curl into the tightest ball I could and cry until I got a migraine - and got really sick and felt better emotionally after I threw up which makes me wonder

Anyway - I am thinking of you - and I have thought about this but we need to share our own experiences rather than just say our opinion - I have been in dark places and they are so long ago they have faded in my memory also - but the truth has not.

I remember being helpless and afraid - and I had to find professional help with that - and it has only been professional help that has been there for me - so it seems to me that athough you have us in the Forum Family - you don't actually know who we are - and that no one really cares for you and you are really alone in the world and I feel so sad for you

But I am thinking of you

Re: Just checking in.

Always welcome @Former-Member.
Remember its there problem not yours re mental health professionals

You are a person first and they should be helping you not judging you and seeing past what you are doing and trying to understanding what is happening underneath the surface.

I don't think you could mess up and we are here to walk with you and support you the best way we can.

Re: Just checking in.

I'm trying to work out my treatment plan again, and thinking of going into hospital.

One is therapy based and the other is more exercise based program. I'm needing a reset button.

Re: Just checking in.

hi @Former-Member

All the best with setting your reset button - you know when you need to go to hospital to sort it out

I will be thinking of you - and hope it works out for you quickly - but take your time with it

@Former-Member

Just take it easy - I will be going to bed soon - so I hope you are okay - but take life as it comes - in bitznpiecez
