Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Perhaps I should write some short books about life @utopia - ah @Former-Member I think

Like the Blue Day Book or What Cats Know - with photos

Anyway - my mother was afraid of so much - if we were out somewhere she would start - "No - (Dad) don't go there - don't take the kids there - don't go that way - [imagine someone rattling like that spoiling all the fun]

My kids' Dad and I went bushwalking and there were snakes - yell and stamp and they would go really fast - not wanting to encounter unpredictable humans when they are sunning themselves in the middle of a walking track, I love nature and small critturs - they are interesting to watch - and if I get a huntsman in the house my cat thinks it's hers and I put it outside and the cat used to get mad at me but now she has given up kitten-stuff

But my mother - spiders sent her up the wall - ants made her cry, mice made her shriek, rats made her faint, flies would send her into a tizzy -

Oh yes - here's my short story - I wonder what would have happened if there was a bear around -

Actually - she was out on some kind of tour and they were at the sanctury and a koala p*ssed on someone - those eucalyptus leaves make for potent pee guys

I think I might be writing my book right here

Actually - the truth be known I am not scared of much in the world of small beings but mice. Mice is a whole other issue - I can't help myself - my cat bought a live mouse into the house and I stood on my bed and I could hardly believe the way I squealed - a neighbour came and helped me out there - it was not a come hither squeal - it was out of this world

I told my doctor and guess what - sometimes men will squeal uncontrolably about mice - and I have no idea why I am scared of them

That's chapter one of Decadian and critturs

Re: Just checking in.

I'll definitely read your book @Decadian.
Maybe it could be a children's book about a child staying at Grandma's house.
Grandma is strong and protects all the animals. Until one day the child hears a big scream & walks in to find Grandma on top of the kitchen table - scared of a mouse.
Finally the child who never thought she could be as big and brave as Grandma - saves the day - by catching the mouse and releasing it far away.
The child is a hero.
Oops. Got carried away there.

Re: Just checking in.

Keep on going @utopia -only how about the brave little kid has to rescue Granma from getting stuck on top of the fridge and the story goes viral on the internet and the child is decorated for saving Granma

Okay mice - I was scared of them when I was a child - we had a mouse plague - actually more than one - and during the night I would hear them scratching around on the floor of my bedroom. I couldn't get out of bed to turn on the light - I would start singing so I couldn't hear them and Dad would yell at me to stop that noise.

My Gran had a mouse trap with 4 door - it was octagonal shaped - and each evening she would carefully load the 4 traps - and this took a lot of skill - and I learned a few interesting words.

Then the trap was placed on the floor under the stove after Gran had held a match over the stale cheese telling me mice were too fussy wanting their cheese toasted

And during the night the trap would go off 4 times - and I would be counting - in the morning Gran would take the trap outside with four dead mice in it with their tails flapping around - and I was not told what she did with the mice

And when this was happening my mother would be having a war-dance - shrieking while Gran told her to act her age

Okay every one, small animal and crittur story time - what about some spider stories

Re: Just checking in.

Your family stories should be made into books. With slight modifications for 2017.
I thonk the child that saves granny on top of the fridge and gets a heroes award is brilliant. Write it. Kids will love it. Parents would buy it.
You could have a range of stories about different bugs and animals.
