Corellas are beautiful intelligent birds @Former-Member. I love them.
I had a pet galah. Named Yarra. I was going to call him Barak after William Barak, the leader of the Aboriginal people of Melbourne and the Yarra Valley, but then Barak Obama became president of the USA, and I thought that would confuse people and they would never pronounce my birds name right. So I wanted another iconic Australian name, so I chose Yarra after the Yarra River and Yarra Valley.
He could talk a head off a chicken. He never stopped. I was even teaching him to speak another language, my ex husbands language and he had already learnt to say Namaste. lol.
And after all the times I told my boy to make sure the windows and doors were shut when Yarra was out of his cage and flying around the house, I was the one who left the back door open. He flew straight out. We put posters up everywhere. But trying to find a Galah, when there are flocks of wild ones everywhere. Well it was impossible.
My son and I still miss him, and 6 years later, when we see a galah, we call out, 'What you doing, Yarra". But so far, no bird has ever responded back. Still sad after all these years. I just hope that because he was still young and was just starting to become hormonal, lol, that he may have been able to find a mate and join a wild flock. I don't want to think of the alternative.
I'm sorry you are not sleeping well. I know when I wasn't sleeping much last year, it made it so hard not to be depressed. It made it hard to fight through that depression.
It was only when I went to hospital and was put on sleeeping tablets, and finally got some decent rest, that I could then focus on coping tecniques to help lift me out of my depression and start working on me.
My memories not good, so I'm sorry if you have told me this before, but is there any medication your psychiatrist or gp can recommend, short term even, to help get you the sleep your body and mind is craving?
