I can’t find peace

@outlander, it’s on mental health stigma. I’m doing social work. I don’t like thinking about the times I felt stigmatised even in the healthcare system. I also don’t want to think about how stigma prevents people from seeking help and they pay the heavy price, I know people who paid that price

I'm a student too and I know a bit about all the strains that come with assignments.. How are you going alone with it? Do you feel like sharing your thoughts?

This resonates with me "I feel the safest alone, curled up in bed...". I feel I am safe in my bed, watching my favourite show.. but you say that also that isn't enough to help you feel fully safe?

@fluffylight, I’ve done some work on it, most of the rest would be done weekend and next Monday. Placement tires me out, don’t know if I can do it on the days I’m in, I’m in Tuesday to Friday. I’m beyond exhausted and fed up. I’ve gotten the placement of my choice, and I’ve made decent enough progress on assignment, yet I feel, broken. I’m stuck in this cycle of withdraw and keep safe, and the mentality “I’m better off alone”. To make things worse, I have a migraine on it’s way again😔

Thank you for sharing this. I've had experience with placement and I know the feeling of being tired out. Does this placement bring you joy? Because my placement actually showed me that I didn't like what I was doing. I am curious to know about why you are feeling exhausted with this placement and i'm holding space for this 💛

i beleive you can do it though. its tough to get through but it can also be helpful in working out the area you want to try and make the most difference in.

placement with migraines is tough! ive had migraines on and off for the last 2 weeks and they are not fun at all. i hope they ease off abit

@fluffylight, I’ve felt a bit out of place at first and still do, it’s getting easier, just been on placement for four days. Kiddos can be lovely but exhausting. I guess sensory overload (which is expected with something new), along with migraines and my own issues are making me really exhausted.

@outlander, I feel the placement would be less exhausting if my migraines disappeared, it sort of ruins things. Even when it’s not there, the hangover is there 😔. I don’t know if my own childhood trauma has been triggered too. I remember being a very shy and scared child

I went on placement with kids.. it was a lot of sensory overload for me too.

oh it is way easier without migraines @creative_writer
its hard when the workplace also triggers you as well.
how long are you on placement for

@fluffylight, they are so cute and innocent but can be a handful. I think I enjoy being around kids and engaging with them 💖

@outlander, it’s a 500 hour placement, so will be at the school till the end of the year. School placement was still probably a better option than the other placement they suggested in May, I don’t know if I would’ve gotten through that okay, at least I’m not hearing heavy trauma content day in and out

wow thats alot of hours @creative_writer the school placement seems better then the other one though. being around trauma day in and day out would be really tough
