Re: I can’t find peace

@tyme, I think I’ve had a lot go on in my life for a while, it’s been building up. The weekend was just an indicator I was burning out. I have so many emotions burning to come out, but I don’t know how to put words to the chaos in my mind. It feels easier to release through self-destruction

Hearing you @creative_writer .

Were you able to get some support from your uni so that they have more of an understanding around your needs while on placement?

Please take it easy.

Re: I can’t find peace

@tyme, the uni is aware. I’ve had my own issues going on for a while, had really awful migraines, struggled with sensory overload, and not being able to feel safe with supervisors didn’t go down well either. I was under a lot of stress but never really felt task supervisors could help. They terminated the placement so I’m getting moved. They were very vague is their rationale, they said they couldn’t support my learning, the school was overworked and unstaffed. So now I am hopefully getting transferred to a less stressful and more supportive placement

How do you release emotions if words are not doing the trick?

I am in no shape to call up a helpline, my voice is terrible and I am croaking

Re: I can’t find peace

Depends on the emotion @creative_writer. Like releasing a high-energy emotion like anger would look very different to releasing a low-energy emotion like sadness.

Whatever the emotion though, a good way to release it is with body-focused stuff. If you can identify where the emotion is sitting in your body, you can focus there. Stuff like PMR, guided meditation, exercise, dancing or singing along to music that matches the emotion, writing it out and tearing up the paper, screaming into a pillow, having a good cry. Whatever feels right for you.

You could also try journalling about your emotions, if you'd want to talk it through but have no ability to talk.

Re: I can’t find peace

@Jynx, I wish my emotions were less confusing. I feel something crawling deep inside me, maybe it's a number of emotions, nothing makes much sense right now. All I know is what I want to do about it, but I have to try to find another way, it's hard to resist 😞 , but have been able to do it so far today

Re: I can’t find peace

@creative_writer I believe in you! You are doing amazingly to resist, I'm so proud of you.

Emotions are tricky hey! I was reading a book about them (cannot remember the title but it might have just been called 'Emotions' lol) that made a distinction between feelings and emotions. Feelings are the felt physical experience we have in our bodies, and emotions are the socially and culturally constructed concepts we use to describe them to each other. But what one person feels and labels as anger might not be the same for someone else who feels anger differently. So what works for one person in processing an emotion may not work for someone else.

Maybe have a looksie at this emotion wheel and see if it helps you in identifying your emotions right now?

Re: I can’t find peace

I’ve got updates on why the placement dropped me, they thought I was interested, and didn’t engage enough (I engaged on a certain level, but I suppose I was never good enough). I was thinking of talking to my task supervisor about things this week. I guess it’s too late for that, if my task supervisors are willing to drop me without talking to me, then I am not willing to share parts of my story and how it affected my ability to complete tasks on placement

Re: I can’t find peace

I'm so sorry to hear that. How are you feeling about all of this? @creative_writer

I recognise that it may be a very difficult experience.

Re: I can’t find peace

@tyme, I was an emotional mess before this, and it certainly hasn’t helped. They don’t care about me. They don’t want to hear from me because I am not a person, I am a problem. They just ghosted me without understanding. Only the uni told me they dropped me, there was no closure whatsoever
